Default I've pretty much considered my life over.

Yeah so I just finished a 5 month course of accutane a month ago. I stopped my course early because one day out of nowhere my face flushed bright red, and it felt like it was on fire. I called my dermatologist and he told me it sounded like rosacea.

I said "Let me guess, there's no cure for that either?" and he said that I was right. So that's when I broke down crying.

So before rosacea, I never left my house. Because i'm so ugly and scarred up. I was already embarassed of the way I look. Now, I never leave my house, and I can honestly say I have no future now because I have rosacea. I've been crying my eyes out every single day for the past 3 weeks.

My dermatologist prescribed metrogel and oracea. I don't know why he prescribed me oracea as I have no bumps on my face at all. I don't use the metrogel because I can honestly say I can't see that helping me.

So I went to my GP and she prescribed me Lyrica. When I asked her is the rosacea might ever go away, she told me no, that I would have it forever. I've been doing nothing but sleeping non stop for 3 days.

Sorry for the long post, but what I basically want to ask, is do any of you think there is hope?

    Hi Kanmi

There is always hope! Read as much as you can on this site about all of the treatments others have used that have helped them. Personally, I firmly believe that medical science is making great strides in understanding inflammatory diseases...and the more people learn, the more innovative ideas can be applied to rosacea!

Try seeing a derm that specializes in rosacea...not just a regular dermatologist. And give the treatments prescribed a chance to work. It took awhile for your skin to get inflammed and irritated so it'll take awhile to calm down.

You say your skin is scarred, etc. But you don't have bumps. Why were you on accutane?

    CV
Bactrim (phasing out), Spironolactone 1x/day, Retin-a cream .05% in the p.m., Neutrogena Cleanser for Sensitive Skin, avoid dairy and usual Rosacea triggers.

I was on accutane for acne. The acne cleared up, except i've been getting these little random whiteheads lately. Very small though, I can barely see them.

I don't know how I find a dermatologist who specializes in rosacea?

Don't give up. I spent a long time when I was in a similar situation reading and making plans for the future and looking at all treatments and possibilities.

I still have rosacea but it barely affects my everyday life now at all. I thought this would be near impossible but I struggled through years of rosacea and came out a lot better than I would have ever of expected.

Welcome to the group. I also went on roaccutane for acne and my rosacea also got alot worse (I had it before aswell). There is much you can do and much to hope for in the future.

How long ago did you stop roaccutane? How old are you? What do you use on your face at the moment besides what you have already mentioned? What do you eat? What else have you tried?

Best wishes and one big hug coming your way

    Sarah

You should try the metro, I personally think it works.
