    Default Take it Easy

I think you guys are being a little bit harsh. Yes, you may have only had positive results with this treatment but that doesn't mean that other people will have the same results. I, personally, have found that it makes my rosacea worse. My cheeks and arms are flaming red for days after treatments. It also, brings out a lot of skin imperfections that I didn't know were there prior to starting treatments. However, I am not doing it to cure my rosacea, I am doing it to reduce stretch marks and a nasty c-section scar. I don't really see how you have the right to jump down someones throat just because they are curious to see if anyone else has had negative results. Hooray for you. Your life is perfect. Not all of us are so lucky.

Apart from a couple of posts today, it's been ages since I posted about RLT.

It litrally saved my life. I think other things I added to my routine such as antioxcidents, vitamin d and just a healthy(ish) diet all help, but RLT was what turned things around for me.

In answer to the many posts related to whether this poll is a fair representation of RLT, well clearly it isn't as it only covers the negatives. This is a fact. Is it a poll that fairly defines if people have had negative experiences? I would argue not either as, for example, I have seen increased flushing using RLT as I tried to get used to it and figure out the best routine for my unit. This is because their is a HUGE difference in the output dependant on the wavelength, power of the unit (watts), distance from the face/time used (J/cm2).

I posted a more comprehensive survey here and also loads of information about RLT (including a lot of the science) here: http://www.rosaceagroup.org/The_Rosa...eic-dermatitis

Post #124 for results (includes a before and after treatment). Also I have changed my routine since that thread was lasted posted in. I now only use red for 10 mins then infrared two days later for 10 mins - as close to skin as possible. Going to knock down still to 5 mins each. This is one per week. For the record, when I stopped for 2 months, the flushing came back!

Unfortunately I have not had time to update the survey and the forum does not allow for such a comprehensive survey to be automated.

PS - In a selfish way, I'm glad I wasn't he only one Steve had attacked (in another thread), I previously felt this was a personal onslaught, but I think it is more that Steve desperately wants RLT to work for him and for whatever reason it hasn't in the same way it's benefitted the masses. I feel truly sorry for him for this reason, but when I tried to help before to figure how his exact routine, he was less than forthcoming.

All I would say to people considering it is DO YOUR HOMEWORK. Holding the same red light at different distances, for example, will have drastically different results. The survey I created includes how far people hold their unit and the experience they've had...PLUS side effects .

Anyway, sorry for railroading this post.

PPS - I don't think anyone here attacked anyone for wanting to find out negative experiences. They just wanted to point out that it may have lead someone who could of benefited from RLT to not try it without first reading a body of good positive reviews which weren't present when the poll was posted (and we not asked for .

Default So important to discuss RLT and other options

What people come to this site for is to get knowledge on treating rosacea from people that are going through it. Polls and discussions like these are what I love about this site. Here are my current thoughts on RLT.

RLT- I use a Ledman. From the first time I used it I was amazed that it had such an effect.

It can have "negative" side effects. I wanted to put it way too close. I now shine it into the mirror and have it bounce back onto my face creating a gap of about 6 ft. At one point in my treatment with it I would put it
across the room, a gap of about 25 ft. Up close, the first few times I was using it, I felt amazing results.
However, an hour after my face would feel flushy... after a few hours I would look in the mirror and my nose
would be red and look sunburned. It would go down after 24 hours or so... and initially I was amazed at how
good I would look and feel after doing, lets say, a 7 minute shining of about 6 inches away. My skin would look and feel phenomenal. But, like I said, it had to catch up, and when it did it would be burnt. (Similar to
spending a day outside and then going home and thinking "Wow my skin held up great! Next day, burnt!)

Like I said- now it's about 6 ft for about a minute. My face is starting to get "stronger". It makes my skin less
oily and seems to reduce redness majorly. I give the RLT 9/10 stars in treating rosacea. Now to make a list of
    other treatments and there ratings.

    antibiotics- 5/10
    hot tub sweating-9/10
    metrogel/retin a - 4-10
    coconut/honey- 9/10
    garlic- 8/10

I want to say this... lately, my skin has been so good. I am very aware of the foods I eat and I use the red
light and occasionally eat garlic throughout the week. These three things. When I can find a hot tub, I go
sweat in a gentle way. My face has never looked better. It is getting stronger. I have penetrated/erased
layers of damage. There is hope for this... much hope. I read a lot of negative things on here but there is so much hope. I joined this forum feeling supper out of control. I feel very much in control these days. I have
flushed maybe 2 times in the last months. Amazing. I am typing this in indoor heat and it does not feel like a
threat. Before it was suffocating me, I hated it! Now, I notice it, but it doesn't upset my skin. My skin feels
healthier. ONe of the benefits I believe of the hot tub is that you get to relax and take in heat at your own
level. You can stand up if you get to hot. Become one with the heat!

You cannot escape yourself, you have to meet yourself!

I encourage everyone on here to discuss what works for them. No petty arguments, there is work to be done here! Detail your posts with emotions, observations and the little things... the little things are what we need
that the doctors can NOT give us.

I tried the yellow light, red and infrared. They each caused increased redness, only in the areas of damaged skin. I used them for 4 minutes each, 1/2- 1 inch from skin. My skin is sensitive, prone to dry and has some cappillary damage.
The areas where rosacea did not affect my skin, tolerated the light for 8 minutes. It does increase circulation.
