My bro told me about this site, ive searched through but have a few questions if thats ok.

Have had flushing/burning/transient levels of redness for a number of years and recent outbreaks of red spots.

Ive spoken to a well known derm and hes recomended laser treatment

I also have an apoitment with a derm on monday as well.

I saw my GP today regarding a referall letter and he said that he could see I had rosacea (despite not noticing it when Ive been in with the same symptoms before) and that tetracycline and a topical would clear it up. When I mentioned laser treatment, he said he had never heard of it for rosacea.

Many people on here talk about what has worked and what has'nt....how do I know who to trust, the laser guy, the GP, the derm.

Can any one help me at all its all so difficult. Is laser right, would the GP suggestion work, it just sound like spurting out the old.

In my opinion, the toughest thing about rosacea on many levels, from treatment to therapy development, is that everyone reacts differently to various treatments. Some people have success with lasers and some don't. Some people benefit from low dose accutane, while others don't see as much of a benefit. In my opinion, the best approach for those just getting into this painful process is to experiment intelligently. In other words, find out the therapies that are safe and have generally shown the best results for larger populations - Laser treatments using IPL, Doxy, etc. A good start in my opinion (and this may be a disputed subject) is to order Dr Nase's book (www.drnase.com). He lays out the basic foundations of rosacea and therapy options by symptom. In my opinion, a must read for those just figuring out rosacea.

Best,
Trey

Hi, thanks for the reply. Im allready quite well versed in rosacea, I just find it so tiring to have x people, who are meant to be proffesionals, all singing from different hymm sheets.

Its hard to imagine that such a debilitating, painful condition, could be controlled merely on antibiotics.

Dr Nase's book can provide some insights into expectations of therapies.
