I've been lurking for a few days and finally decided to say hi. HI! :D

I'm just learning about rosacea. It's the only thing that seems to fit my symptoms. For at least the past year or two, (I'm 35), I've developed a weird flush on and around my nose that stays for at least an hour. When it happens my nose feels very tight or dry, kind of like it's swollen up under the skin and the skin is stretched over it. It's an odd feeling. Sometimes it's a bit burny but just mildly, like a sunburn. It happens almost every day and mostly when I'm drinking hot beverages, when I'm stressed, or when I get really warm. And mostly in the late afternoon and early evening. I can feel it coming on and don't even need to look in the mirror to know it's acting up. I've always been fair skinned and blush very easily (which I've always hated), but it's only started sticking around since last year, I think. I have the occasional breakout but for the most part don't have bumpiness. It's just a flat reddening with some blotchiness. There is also a definite line of demarcation below my eyes where the redness starts and stops. I have my first appointment with a dermatologist next week and I am bringing photos with me. I can also post them on this board but I'm sort of chicken.

The weird thing is that I have also had what I thought were dry, itchy allergy eyes without any other allergy symptoms for years now, before the nose thing ever started. I never would have made a connection, but it really sounds like part of it.

I haven't been able to find any other condition that does these weird things. Does that compare to anyone here? Do you know of any other things that causes this kind of flushing?? I feel silly going to the doctor for "blushing", like I'm being a drama queen or whatever, but I guess better safe than sorry. I wish it would stop but mostly I'm just afraid of it getting worse.

I'm looking forward to meeting you all! Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Welcome to the Rosacea Forum. Hopefully your dermatologist appointment will determine whether or not you have rosacea or some other skin condition or disease and find a treatment that will help. There is another support group for flushing which you might want to check >

May you find the support you need.
