My progress!!!

Hello all..... been dealing with this disease for 2 1/2 years and after seeing numerous specialists, my face is WORSE than ever. This is me tonight after work.

im on my second course of accutane since september. I was taking 10-20mgs daily and showing very good results with my rynophyma going down considerably.

During the holidays however, i started getting lesions on my chin so my doc started upping my dosage.... 20-30-40mgs daily.... now she wants me on 60 mgs daily! My nose is swelling up again AND IM getting lesions!!!

So i tried backing down to 20mgs daily and i am still getting lesions on my face.

My doc says i have to deal with the redness & swelling on HIGH dose accutane in order to get rid of the lesions and be on to laser treatment sooner.

ON low dose i get lesions & on high dose i get them...what the heck am i supposed to do? just keep getting worse???

I'm sorry for your troubles...My advice for what it's worth is do not increase the dose & go back down to very low...Even 5mg a day because 20mg is still a bit up there....Higher is not better w/Accutane and this condition...They do have smaller capsules now & if you already have your supply compounding pharmacies can transfer the medication.

I took it back in the day before it was found that larger doses (I did alternating 60/40mg for 4 months) can lead to thinning of the skin & actually make the flushing more visible....Low dose seems to be the key in getting efficacious results for rosacea. Dr. Nase describes this in his book & based on my experiences, I can say it seems true. I think the high Accutane made me worse because my flushing has been a beast to try to treat.

I don't wish to scare you just wanted to give you heads up so you can make an informed choice.

The reason my doc keeps raising the dosage is to combat very bad sores. But I have dropped down on my own to 20mgs daily ... see how that works.
