I'm just wondering what the best way to treat the redness for Seb Derm? I have had 6 IPL's for my rosacea, and I use Elidel to control the breakouts for the Seb Derm. I just can't seem to kick that redness or know how to. Any tips would be great.

Thank you

hi,
i am just wondering: how do you know the redness is from seb derm vs rosacea? I am asking because i am always wondering the same thing about my skin.

Regarding your question, well i am obviously struggling as well with the same problem but have you considered the following:
- Many people have had success with Cutanix for their seb derm as well
- Antifungals such as Nizoral
- Appel Vinegar (be careful with that one)
- Corn starch
- Removing all sugar, starch and high glycemic foods from your diet
- Oil of oregano, pau d'arco....

What is Cutanix ? never heard about it. I'm thinking of trying the apple cinder as well.

I know most of my redness is from the seb derm because the redness at the sides of the nose and the redness are all in the prime area where seb derm is found. I guess I can't be too sure, I'm gonna keep getting more IPL's in the mean time.

Hi Canada Dude
Cutanix is a non prescription anti-inflammatory lotion from www.Cutanix.com I use it in the evening. If you want to try it, you should aim for the sensitive skin or the extra strenght version.
I also use the Calm Cool and Corrected from www.dermadoctor.com They are a bit expensive, but the most helpful I have found yet.

Other than that I can recommend Pau D`Arco. It is bark from an amazonian tree. It has powerful anti bacterial properties and probably anti inflammatory as well. It helps me at least.

Just a remark on oregano, there is an anti oxidant compound in oregano that is 261 times as potent as vitamin c and 16 times more potent than vitamin e. I saw this on the back side of a product we sell at the health store where I work. I bought some of them, because I dont take any vitamins other than I eat a lot of blueberries and a good diet otherwise.

I have also had great success with propolis earlier, but related to herpes outbreaks on my lip. I have read up on propolis, and it is one of the most effective natural anti-biotics and anti-virals in nature. Taking propolis supplement is in a way as taking a multi-vitamin because it contains a lot of different compounnds that the bees collect in order to make the propolis.

Pau d`arco is also a very potent anti bacterial-viral substance. It will however work broad spectrum, so it will be wise to take pro-biotics, but I did take pau darco for a year with no side effects. Dr Nase mentioned it as the most effective herb for seb derm, probably because it kills off bacteria and fungus. I know Winnie on this board has had success with it on line with Elidel. (I didn not like Elidel. It is counter producctive because the base is full of alcohols and it does nothing for seborrhea, it will more likely clog pores and make the skin produce more sebum. The primecolus might be very anti-inflammatory, but that is of little help when the base is not a gel or completely non acnegenic.

Trying to improve the acid7base balance in the body might also help with your seb derm. LIke drinking freshly pressed lemon juice, this will take the ph away from acidity.
