I wonder if anyone can help me. I have had slightly reddening skin for quite a few years but it didn't bother me that much. The areas affected was one side of my nose just out onto my cheek. Occassionally it would get an area of small raised almost blisters which would then flake. When I went to the docs and mentioned it in passing she said rosacea and gave me metrogel which I hated so didn't use. At this time I was working outside for approx 30 mins twice a week. I then changed my job and worked wholly inside, my skin got worse and more flakey and red. Finally about 15 months ago after a very stressfull time a erupted into small spots and my skin was itchy tight and uncomfortable the docotr then gave me lymecycline, after about 3 days condition calmed down. Took the course but didn't refill prescription. Last year on and off the condition flared and I saw a derm who confirmed rosacea I pointed out the flakey nature of my forehead eyebrows etc and he brushed them aside. I also poited this out to my doc who also brushed them aside. Saw another doc in practise who said seb derm use hydrocortisone, I was afraid to do this as may make rosacea worse.Skin settled and then in Florida sun bad reaction despite hat sunscreen etc. Back on antibiotics. Stopped antibiotics las Oct and fine until Jan this year another outbreak, back on antibiotics and seek ipl. I have now had 3. My forehead is flakey not red at all, my eyebrows are flakey my scalp is flakey my cheeks are flakey some redness ocassional minute little blisters which when run over with back of nail disapper. No moisturizer helps at all. I have athletes foot and a patch of ring worm on my back. Do I have rosacea with seb derm or just seb derm or perioral dermatitis (although the condition only shows around mouth ( specifically the corners) unless in a flare. I do not blush socially as a habit the only flush I have noticed is when cooking dinner and then eating it, although this isn't every time, and alcohol on occasion ( white wine beer gin vodka all seem ok worse is red wine but I do have hayfever allergies and wondered if this was the histimine) any help comments would be greatly appreciated as I am confused.

Sounds like you are having a horrible time with this. The problem with rosacea is that there can be other skin conditions happening at the same time as your rosacea or you may have another skin condition, like, SD, and not rosacea at all. Other skin conditions look so much like rosacea that the list is staggering. See this url >

You have one of those cases that the docs may be misdiagnosing and finding the physician that can figure this out is all you can hope for.

You maybe able to figure a lot out simply by reading in all the various rosacea groups on the net and the incredible amount of information available on the net.

It appears from your description that the antibiotic helped your redness, correct? That tells you something. As to your skin flaking that one is the puzzle. Don't give up, keep searching and you will find.
