Sounds like these meds are the standard given by derms for roascea..minocycline, tetracycline and doxycycline. Is there one of the three that works better then the others..I've used tetracycline and found it to be so-so, meaning it took the inital tiny cluster of pimples I had on my chin away, but still got more in other places while still using it. I've heard that Minocycline is one of the better choices, but are there any side effects that we don't hear about when using this med.. Also I've read that clarithromycin is another good choice used, but is it something most derms know about?

Hi Sandra, -- I found clarithromycin to be the best by far for me, it was the only antibiotic that really cleared me 100%.

Same here. Only it only worked once. The second time my body became immune to it and it stopped working!

I wonder after a year off of it if it will work again? :?

Thanks guys,, but is this med something most derms know about..Seeing that the other three is the most popular I was wondering if the med was intended for something else first..

Hey Dukecity when you say it cleared you 100% are you referring to P and P's or erythmea or both, because if you're talking about erythma that would be great. Because along with erythmea i also have chronic swelling which sucks.

Thanks

- It did eliminate my P&P's and reduced my redness, but still had some inflamation.

You're lucky to have found someone to perscribe clarithromycin to you, every time I ask a derm about a macrolide antibiotic, beta-blockers, or antihypertensive med they steer me to the tetracyclines and say "have you tried Plexion?", which is just another sulfer or sulfacetamide product that won't do ****. But fortunantely after much searching and going through more doctors than I can count I found one that actually listens.

I bought the clarithromycin from "Masters Marketing" along with the accutane which I just started today. I took the clarithromycin for the last 8-weeks as I had IPL and laser from Dr. Darm in Portland in early December. --
