Several years ago while at the eye doctors, I heard him state " I see a little rosacea on the cheeks and nose". Being naive I paid it no attention, and went about my business thinking he was wrong. As the time went on, I did start to really notice a blushing in the cheeks..............................

Now it has been several years, and I have redness in the cheeks that will not go away, it is constant, and at times it burns for a few days straight. I have used Eucerin Redness Relief and was very happy after my dermatologist suggested it. But after about a month, I started to notice my cheeks seemed more red and the cover up was starting to look to paste like. I have stopped using it due to my sensitivity. I can barely just wash my fash with cold water.

Last night I started a bit of Rosac cream , just to see if this helps. Does anyone else have the same sensitivity problem? I am curious about antibiotics, or anything else? I just feel I still look okay, but it is getting worse.

Also I do get laser hair removal on my face, and have been for over a year. I can not say if that has affected the rosacea or not. But seriously I am happy with the results. This rosacea has progressed so that on a daily basis I have red cheeks and nose. The redness has gotten deeper, and I am worried and not sure when it will stop, or if it can be treated where it can go into "remission" so to speak. I would not mind if it came for a week every now and again. But I am living with this every day, 365 days a year and it is not going anywhere. :(

ANY SUPPORT or HELP would be so apprechiated!!! I just put make up on and still look like my cheeks are red, and the skin is thick, or rubbery!

Hi Bootfetish

I haven't used either one of the creams you mentioned. The problem with Rosacea of course, is that what works for one person may not work for another. So, it's pretty much trial and error. Try to get samples of products rather than buying the full size. Having said that, if you do buy a full size product, keep your receipt and if you find it irritates your skin, take it back and ask for a refund. Not all companies offer refunds, but many do and there's no harm in asking.

I currently take the antibiotic Doxycycline, which has certainly helped. It can be prescribed by your local doctor. If you haven't already visited a Dermatologist, you might ask your local doctor for a referal.

Best of luck!

I am assuming you have read the Sticky Note at the top of the NEWBIES section forum NEWBIES 101 ?

If you have not, then, please spend a few hours reading not only the NEWBIES 101 but also read the posts in all the Rosacea Forum to get an idea of what concerns rosaceans have had and what works for them.

There is no 'one size fits all' rosacea treatment. You will have to carefully decide what works for you and only you and your physician can decide what to do. Welcome to the group and may you find something helpful to control your rosacea.

I don't mean to spoil your optimism, but, I'd keep reading and educating yourself. :( That's a standard "Go away, you're fixed" prescription from derms. Hopefully it helps you, though.

I wish more dermatologists had this disease so we could break down this monolithic ignorance wall. They can be so unhelpful. :x

Yes, antibiotics and Metro Gel seem to be the standard approach from doctors. The Doxy has helped to clear my papules and pustules and a little redness too but I am always on the look out for something better, because I hate the negative side effects from it. I seem to get them all!!!

The Metro Gel 0.75% seemed to work for me in the beginning but then stopped working after a while. This seems to be the 'norm' with topicals. I like to alternate what cream/gel/oil I use on my face so that my skin does not become used to any one product.

It's all trial and error. Keep up the reading! :)
