I tryed to find Financea chemists of Finland but didn't find. Metrogel worked some for my nose and got a bit redness off but now I would like to try financea. So where could I get this stuff? Should I order it from US? very expensive (I guess) :( If someone could give me on URL for where.
And my other question is that ppls who have tried metrogel and worked for them, have Financea worked better? And should I even try to get that if metrogel worked for some while?
Now im currently using accutane (3 weeks gone) and metrogel (twice in a day).

Hello,
It is available in Finland.
http://www.finacea.com/html/index.html
Hope it will help you, but for most rosaceans Finacea/Skinoren is too irritating.

Hi Bonefish,
Guess we all have to try to find what works best for each of us. I was using Finacea on my chin. Found out it made it more sore. Stopped it and is a little better today. Trial and error. Good Luck.

Thank you Barbara!
I hadn't yet looked into Finacea because I had heard reports that it was too harsh with quite a few people and I had enough on my list to work through! I didn't realise it was the same thing as Skinoren (Azelaic Acid) which I have tried and it worked really well for me, especially the p&p. I ran out and never got around to getting anymore because I went off on a 'natural products' search for topicals - natural oils and the like. But at least I now know what people are talking about when they say Finacea!
I wonder if Finacea and Skinoren have the exact same percentage of working ingredients in them? My tube says "1g contains Azelaic Acid 200mg; Benzoic Acid 2mg". The Finacea web site says 15% Azelaic Acid...but I couldn't find any other ingredients there? Oh, hang on, just do my maths...Skinoren contains 20%. Mmm! Interesting. Anyone have a Finacea tube handy to check for other ingredients? Would just be interesting to know.
Thanks

If anyone is interested, the ingredients of Finacea were posted on RSG:
"Here are the ingredients:
Each gram contains .15 gm azelaic acid in an aqueous gel base
containing benzoic acid( as a preservative),disodiu-EDTA, lecithin,
medium-chain triglycerides, polyacrylic acid, polysorbate 80,
propylene glycol, purified water, and sodium hydroxide to adjust pH."
From the info sheet on Skinoren I have here now:
"Skinoren is the brand name for a cream containing 20% azelaic acid. It also contains benzoic acid, PEG-30 stearate, glyceryl monostearate, Cutina CBS, cetearyl octanoate, propylene glycol, glycerol and water."
So, it appears that they are similar but not the same. Perhaps this is why I have had good results with Skinoren and some have mentioned bad results with Finacea???
Interesting!

Hallo Red,
have just read your posting on Skinoren. Am english, living in germany and my docter has just suggested skinoren for me.
Am a bit wary of trying it, as on the back of the packet it says for pustuläre rosazea - meaning the kind of rosacea with pimples etc. Which i havent really got. My rosacea consists mainly of redness and veins. I also have greasy skin in the t-zone and eczema. So i dont really know what this medication is supposed to do for me - in my case.
What i wanted to ask you is how long have you been using skinoren? Did you have burning and redness at the beginning of treatment? And how often do you apply? Some people here use it once a day, others twice.
I dont really fancy having to use something like this all the time, so another question is - what happens once you want to stop using skinoren? Does that result in the skin getting worse than before, because it was used to the stuff?
My daughter is studying medicine and said that skinoren has a kind of peeling effect. Do you think that the skin could get thinner through using it?
A lot of questions i know! Would be grateful if you find the time to answer.
My email adress is silentreader49@aol.com
Thanks a lot. Please forgive spelling. Have been speaking german on a daily basis the last 30 years and believe it or not, you do forget a lot of your own language - unfortunatly.
Best wishes,

Hi Monica and welomce to the Forum
I'll answer here as it may be helpful to others?
I used Skinoren for a short period of time...just one tube...or was it two? I can't remember now. My Dad recommended it to me (he's a Pharmacist). I felt that it was kinder to my skin than other prescription topicals I had tried at the time. Yes, I was using it for p&p control. At that time, I think my face had p&p's, base redness and spider veins but I was only using the cream to try and help clear the p&p's.
After using Skinoren, I'm pretty sure I went down the natural path...diet...oils on the skin, I experimented quite a lot. I didn't quit using Skinoren cos it wasn't working...it was. I just wanted to go a-la-natural.
I don't recall peeling when using Skinoren. I don't believe it would make your skin thinner. It's my understanding that steroids will do that.
As you have already read, Skinoren is indicted for p&p's, so maybe it's not for you.
Hope this helps.

Hi there,
I used metrogel for one year, It reduced redness and spots but after about 8 months it stopped working.
I then tried finacea which has worked very well for reducing spots,
I find it stings a little when applied sometimes but is not too harsh for me... I lurrrve it.
not sure how effective it is on redness though.
p.s. where in Finland are you?? I was there on holiday recently... we went to Helsinki, Naantali, Turku and Tampere.
