View Full Version : Ending a troubled thread

Thank God the LED light topic has now been curtailed.
A little healthy argument is not a bad thing BUT as soon as the "gladiators" start mentioning damning things, contained in private e.mails that the rest of us cannot access, it has to be stopped.
A forum must be a forum of equals, it is frustrating that P M's have become the stuff of mass fights with most people in the dark.

Hi Marpusbean

I have only been a member of this Forum for a short time. I do a heap of reading on Rosacea and I have been stunned at what I have read here on this Forum. There is a maze of underlying tensions and some threads are ONLY started to 'induce inflammation' (yes, that is a pun!) :)

Most certainly I have been very vocal here since joining but that is because I can read between the lines, so to speak. It also helps that I have spent a great deal of time searching past posts in the Forum for things that I wanted to know about Rosacea, before I decided to become a member, and I noticed a certain pattern with certain topics.

The particular topic you have mentioned about LLT and LED was so blatantly obvious to me. I believe that it was never about discussing the pros and cons of this option for Rosaceans. It was about something completely different.

The whole thread is difficult to follow now because so many posts were removed. I believe that particular posts are tone set with abusive words deliberately in order to enable the people following the thread to read it but at the same time knowing that their post will be removed in a short amount of time. This means that any remaining posts will appear to be “bad guy” posts to anyone who reads that thread at a later time. Perhaps the aim is to have the entire thread removed, if any possible damning evidence remains?

Maybe the Moderators would be best leaving the offending posts intact, but censoring it for vial language and personal attacks, so that everyone can know what is really happening. It is so difficult to discuss a topic when that thread was never initiated to discuss that topic at all! That is, the thread was initiated to insight a riot, target one person or another or a group, in the larger world of Rosacea!

For most, it probably isn't obvious and that is probably a good thing. But on the other hand, for those who don't see what is happening, it can make it appear that there are "good guys" and "bad guys", whereas it is more along the lines of trying to defend oneself from a tyranny of abuse, outside of the Forum.

Yes, I so agree, “A forum must be a forum of equals”. We certainly don’t need Narcissists here whatsoever! Amen to that!

Yes, I take your points.
Now they have started again, its seems like they lay in wait , and as soon as the "enemy"posts on whatever subject they pounce.
The world of rosacea is littered with semi -cures that seem to work for one person but create problems for another, its never black and white, but some people defend theit pet treatment to the very end, whatever mayhem and disruption it causes, where will it end!!

You know Marpusbean, there is a lot to it and most are probably better left in the dark. Basically, we are all Rosaceans trying to help eachother find something that will work for us, to try and control our own symptoms.

Currently, what is happening with the 'politics' here has nothing to do with Rosacea. It is about a personal grievance and it does need to stop. But it won't stop until only the TRUTH and FACTS are posted.

I am not going to name anyone but it is so sad to see everyday people being victimised here and outside of the forum for trying to state the truth and the facts.

Hey Red...

You speak a lot of truth. but I think one thing keeps getting thrown out here that just drives me crazy - That we're here JUST for rosacea.

Yes, this is a rosacea board, but part of the problem with rosacea is that we let it control our lives. By continually throwing around "this is ALL ABOUT ROSACEA" , I think it automatically puts everyone on edge. We're upset to begin with - then we come to rosacea boards and all we read is how this and that could help, but it might not... whatever.

I really wish that people would just be themselves. I see it in PMs I get and in emails. I wish we could all kick back and just talk. This is a support area for peopl ewho have something in common. Like the dating thread that's been brought up in other topics - great example of how we can all relax and just be US!

I remember a while back on ESFB having a very fun conversation with many people that are here. That is non-existant. Everyone feels they have to draw a line - You are either supplying information to help out rosacea or you aren't and you're a mooch. How fair is that?

This is kind of a rambling post, but I think it says what I'm trying to say. I've gotten into trouble for saying what's on my mind many times here. I kind of wish we could see more of it. Not the trouble part, mind you, but the speaking our thoughts. Instead of just copying and pasting information, tell about real life!

My 2-pennies worth.

Hi Kelli

I couldn't agree more. I believe that this Forum should be all about Rosacea but there are so many angles that need addressing.

It is not all about medications and topicals and makeup...also a big factor is our feelings and I love the "dating" thread!

The psychological aspect of Rosacea has a huge impact on us all and if we can be ourselves and chat and perhaps even flirt a little, well that's a great thing. Heck, surely we need a bit of that with the way we feel about ourselves with this dreaded red face thing!

If threads were started with a genuine aim to discuss that topic then we wouldn't have this problem right now (or in the past). Right now, all I see is a personal attack on two people who don't deserve it. Just everyday folk like you and I. Who sees it? Who understands it? Why is it being allowed to happen? Who else can defend them? I haven't touched it today. It's plain tiresome! Maybe I should become a Moderator so that I could discuss options with other Mods? But I don't know how it works.
