View Full Version : Dr Geoffrey Nase banned!

To Warren, I sincerely hope that you will allow this thread to remain intact for all to read. I will try not to individually attack anyone but I do feel compelled to make a few personal comments.

Today it was announced that Warren had officially banned Dr Geoffrey Nase. I am outraged to say the least and I know many share my sentiments.

In the face of a constant barrage of abuse, put downs, insinuations and accusations, I believe Geoffrey has conducted himself like the gentleman that he is and always responded with dignity, diplomacy and an open mind.

Warren you must understand that a person can only take so much abuse and then they must, in the name of all things fair, stand up for themselves.

Why are others allowed to get down and dirty whilst Geoffrey must remain submissive? This is incredibly unfair. Geoffrey has been through more than you and I will ever know and so when someone pushes him to the edge, what do you expect, that he just take it on the chin? I doubt you would allow such abuse directed to yourself, so please put yourself in Geoffrey's shoes if only for a moment. It's just so sad how tunnel visioned your forum has become. In your misguided quest for the perfect board, you have now eliminated the linch-pin that kept it all together for us - Geoffrey.

He provided us with cutting edge information, he never abandoned anyone, he gave us faith and hope to never give up, he supported us, he cared for us and now you have robbed us of that.

Warren you have allowed this to happen by unabated attacks on every sentence that Geoffrey posts by Markus -- where were you Warren during the 55 posts against Geoffrey by Markus? We all saw that you were present and watching Warren. Is that really fair?

I hope you realise what this means for your board. You only have to look at Yahoo R-S. When Geoffrey stopped posting, their posts went down by 65% to 70% (and have remained as such) and most posts are by 5 people trying to keep the board alive. They are actually going over what photoderm is? Hello?

Geoffrey has asked me all to let you know that he will no longer be a part of Warren's unmoderated board and that he will see everyone on his new site as Warren has banned Geoffrey for standing up for himself -- 50 posts from Markus left attacking Geoffrey.

Please allow this thread to remain Warren. Everything I have said is the truth so please don't condemn me also. People need to know that Geoffrey has not abandoned anybody.

In a stand of loyalty for Geoffrey and because he is the reason that so many of us are able to lead normal lives, I too have decided to never post here again.

Warren, I hope that one day, you will realise what you have done. You threw away the diamond and kept the pebbles.

Good bye all.

I must have missed the bunfight!

Having run a board myself i know its an impossible and thankless task and for that reason i shall not be admonishing anyone. I do think its ironic that the very person it was set up as a platform for, it ends up banning, but who knows what goes on behind closed doors.

I guess this provides more impetus than ever to get the private board up and running.

war of the tinheads. Is it only me that thinks that the truth probably lies somewhere between dr nase and those against him? Sometimes they come across as equally retarded. I critisized nase before but i stopped since i knew it wouldnt make a difference what i said, those standing by him would do so whatever he did or said. Also its pathetic to be against or stand by someone just for the sake of doing it, people who think dr nase is always right are wrong, those who think what he says is always wrong are even more stupid.

Mike i agree you have been treated abysmally recently by certain people on this board but more shocking to me is the way Kelli has been vilified. I hope this decision gives her the green light to start posting again.

Dr has been banned for a period 7 days mainly due to a particular post that was brought to my attention by someone that used the report post button. I have not been reading new posts in this forum for a while unless they are in the moderator area or have been reported by someone using the report posts button or have a title that intrests me. Since I do not look over all the posts it is not fair to say I knowingly let them past when I have not read them or no-one has reported it using the report post button. This forum is not perfect but it has been set up to be fair on all members ([[forum policies]]).

Key policies

You don't need to read every Rosacea Forum policy before you contribute! However, the following policies are key to a productive Forum experience, and the sooner you get to grips with them, the better.

1. The Rosacea Forum is a professional discussion board. Its goals go no further. See what The Rosacea Forum is not for more info.
2. Don't infringe copyrights. Submitting posts which infringes copyrights could lead to legal problems.
3. Respect other posters. The Rosacea Forum contributors come from many different countries and cultures, and have widely different views. Treating others with respect is key to collaborating effectively in building an community.

And there goes the last little piece of respect I had left for the ones running this forum down the drain. Thanks for your contribution to the rosacea world Warren.

Could we see that post you're referring to? I've used to report button many times, still you allow people like Markus to rant on. If turning on the one who's been taking one attack after another is the way you run things here, then so be it, but it is the way of a totally spineless person. I think Markus & Co will have a field day. Good job Warren & moderators.

Sweden, you're one of those creating several different user names and was thrown out yourself a while ago, you have no saying in this whatsoever.

This must be the ultralowpoint ever for us all, the online rosacea community. Geoffrey is a friend and a damn good person who's been, just like Bella's saying, handling all this in a most peaceful way. But still he's the perpetrator in all this?? It makes no sense. Sorry, but I don't get it. It's easier to kick the one being tormented instead of dealing with the ones harassing him. Way to go.

You just thrown out the captain of the ship. Now watch the ship turn into the Titanic. Message board suicide. And worst of all, fellow human being disaster.

That was very Peter-ish of you, Sweden. I asked, you got my PM, but sent me nothing.

Well, it would seem this forum has finally shown it's true colors. I can't justify visiting this forum anymore. What's the point in logging in and seeing Markus writing about Geoffrey using a translator, suspecting myself of not being Swedish because I'm a better speller than him and all the usual BS?

I wish you all the best for the time being and hope to stay in touch with those of you who I have become friends with, you know who you are.

See you on the new board, excluding the Norwegian elf & Co!

I agree with you Mermaid, - Dr. Nase dedicates his lifes work to helping those suffering with rosacea, without him here, it's just a bunch of people asking questions and getting no answers.

I think I prefer no answers rather than a stream of false information, hype and lies.

You pays your money and takes your choice on his new Forum, if it ever happens.

pete i would seriuslly rethink your strategy as some of it simply backfires in your face , that post in wchich you mentioned PRIVATE MESSAGE from Geoffrey (the one with cow urine :) very funny by the way ) if anithing it showed me how proffesional the guy is , i mean i was like WOW he must be a robot as anybodyelses PRIVATE response to a character like you would have been more in line with :

Anyone who wants to help rosacea sufferers should stay and get over such superficial/juvenile arguments/disagreements. Ignoring people online is as easy as not replying to empty accusations. If a person is on this forum to HELP, do so and get over the ego/pride. If a person feels the need to express their discontent, that person should do so by hounding the moderators daily until something is done about their discomfort. There is a lot to say about a character and much respect to be given to that character when they are able to rise above the brainless cacophony of their peers and PROVE their intentions, not defend empty words/promises.

I DESPERATELY want to find a treatment that will control my rosacea, and it would bother me greatly, as it would many others, to lose out on anyone who has gone through the hoops of this disease and come out on top, or anyone who dedicates their studies to finding solutions for rosacea's various symptoms.

BellaMermaid,

I have personally taken care of a few of your reports, but you may have forgotten. As to the reason Dr. Nase was banned for seven days, I have read the post in question and it was an uncalled for attack and the ban is minimal. Marcus has been banned repeatedly and we have tried vigorously to remove his posts but as Warren said as well, I don't read every post on this forum, since my volunteer time is limited. I asked you personally to help moderate. Very few come forward to volunteer to moderate and there is not a moderator on board 24 hours a day and we have to just show up and delete, move or try to repair all the damage that uncalled for posts do while they remain public. We just banned a few others recently. Pre-approval of posts like yahoo does works better since no one sees the damage once it is deleted and only the moderator has to read the trash and rude posts. This job is a thankless and stressful one and I can understand why Mike stopped for a while. But I am very thankful Mike is back. What Warren did wasn't easy, but it was the right thing to do. There is a professional way to reply to criticism. If a post is derogatory to Dr. Nase, we will examine it, when reported to the moderators, and then decide if the post should be deleted. Please feel free to report what posts you think are derogatory about Dr. Nase and I will be happy to examine them. The report button is the only way this can be done using this forum. And if you are personally attacked please report it again. I do check the reported posts in question area first.

I pressed the report button on 90 percent of his offending posts, and all the great mods such as yourself did nothing. So I took it upon myself to post after him to point out what a moron he truly is. He posted damaging and insulting information daily. Way to do your job there.

Have you volunteered to moderate this forum? Didn't think so.

Consider this my request for an application. But I'm afraid you're a little too biased to allow me to be a mod.

If you don't like it here.. there are other places to hang your hat.

My hat is waiting for the other places to hurry up and open. But you can bet it will be hanging there.

2 days for sayinng that marc is a moron sounds exsesive , i mean some people may not like that you sad that marc is a moron but i guess others agree that marc is a moron , porhaps the best way to find out if marc is a moron or if he is not a moron is to run a poll : is marc a moron or is he not a moron ? and we will know if he is a moron :-k

is there a hidden message in this post ? only some of us will know :)

Brady,

Thank you for reminding me but I'm happy to say that my memory is well intact. The three posts I am referring to went unanswered, so perhaps you should evaluate this system to ensure that all of us are dealt with fairly. I believe that I am not the first person this has happened to

This post is to primarily tell everybody to back off. If you don't like me so be it but I don't need to start my day reading reams of worthless crap poking out of my inbox. For those whose favourite pass time it is to gossip (yes that includes you, moderators. Seems like news travels fast), then go your hardest. It doesn't worry me how many derogatory words you want to use to describe me. Consider it a reflection of who you all are. I never have to see any of you ever and that comforts me.

So what if I want to thank and support Geoffrey or anyone else for that matter? Free world, freedom of speech etc. Doesn't seem to apply on these forums. All those people pointing the finger at Geoffrey are doing the very thing that they are accusing him of..........recruiting believers. Everyone knows the truth  I don't approve of anyone causing another person's downfall. This is so wrong, no matter who it is.

Thanks to Geoffrey's recent suggestions to try Lyrica and Neocutis, I can finally put all these hysterical forums behind me and look forward to helping those at Geoffrey's future site, people who don't have an agenda.........except to get better and be free of rosacea. Unlike many of you who do not have a fulfilling life, well I do and it's the loved ones in my life whose opinions count, not a group of jealous, bitter, insecure and vengeful people.

Have I made it clear that I don't give a rats, what anyone thinks of me. I know who my friends are and that is the end of it for me.

So please have a field day at my expense but please refrain from littering my mail with bitter opinions. I don't care and I certainly don't have the time to entertain you all. This of course excludes those who have my permission to write.

I hope you don't treat the 'real' people in your life in the manner depicted by so many here. I suppose when you can hide behind a computer, it's easy to tell someone things you would never have the courage to do in real life. Shame on you all.

So in case you missed it, please leave me alone.

I believe Geoffrey has conducted himself like the gentleman that he is and always responded with dignity, diplomacy and an open mind

This was not the case for this certian post and a few others beforehand. That is why he was asked not to post for 7 days (but he is allowed to post in this thread).

Warren you must understand that a person can only take so much abuse and then they must, in the name of all things fair, stand up for themselves.
We do not stop people from defending themselves, but they should not do so by hurling abuse at other people.

. In your misguided quest for the perfect board, you have now eliminated the linch-pin that kept it all together for us - Geoffrey.
Yes this board is set up to allow everyone to be treated equally and fairly. There is no hierarchy here, you will have to find another board if you want that.

Geoffrey has asked me all to let you know that he will no longer be a part of Warren's unmoderated board and that he will see everyone on his new site as Warren has banned Geoffrey for standing up for himself -- 50 posts from Markus left attacking Geoffrey.
That is not the first time he has said that.

You are totally right, people are overreacting to try to get their way.

The rosacea community will never die. We will find new places to discuss rosacea. This forum was set up to be fair to everyone, if people do not want that then they should set up another message board. I have nothing to gain from this forum so nothing to lose if everyone stops posting.

Warren, Brady, David,

Just to refresh all your memories, I posted the above. I had faith that other members would respect my decision to be left alone and they did. Obviously the three of you are filled with enough self importance to supercede my humble wishes and I for one am appalled at your lack of sensitivity for me. I made a simple request and this is what happened:

Warren, you locked this thread with the instructions 'This thread had been locked to enforce a "cool down" period and will be unlocked in 6 hours from the time of this post. If it is not unlocked after 6 hours please use the report post button to get a moderators attention so they can unlock it'.

In my opinion, this was a wise move on your part. The thread was locked on January 16th. Then 5 days later, when this thread was well and trully dead, Warren, you resurrected it for no reason except to attack me, against my wishes. Instead of letting sleeping dogs lie, you decided that it was more productive to stir the pot and upset everyone yet again. The responsible thing to do would have been to just let it go but you guys just can't help yourselves. I am disgusted that all three of you went against my wishes to be left alone. I hope you are proud of your behaviour.

I thought the following would make interesting reading for other members.

In Australia we have a saying called 'The Tall Poppy Syndrome'. It is obviously common knowledge that the 3 of you all hold a grudge against Geoffrey and most likely myself too. Tall Poppy Syndrome is a term that is used to describe people who have the potential to be successful but can be put down by a small community. This is also known as ‘professional jealousy’. Within the Rosacea Community there are people that lack confidence and have low self esteem and this can lead to mental health problems. Hence it is not just isolated to 'professional jealousy'. Jealous and insecure people can attack those more attractive, more confident or those who attract the desirable attention of others all of which instills a sense of insecurity in a select few rosaceans.

From my perspective about Tall Poppy Syndrome, when people gossip about successful Rosacea people, our whole community suffers. "Crab Theory," which I believe is the american equivalent, refers to the destructive practice of Rosacea people pulling and putting down successful rosacea persons. This is done through vicious gossip (back-stabbing), spreading false rumors (slander), sending hateful e-mails, etc. it’s based on a real-life phenomenon: when crabs are captured and tossed into a bucket. If one crab tries to escape by crawling up the inside of the bucket, the other crabs pull it back down. These are the same people who would recommend that to be fair to the thumb, the index finger should be cut back to match the thumb. And to be totally fair, all fingers should be chopped to the same length!

Living and working in the core of the Rosacea community, Rosacea professionals have to make a decision about their choices of friends and when it is appropriate to socialise due to the size of the community and other people observing professionals’ behaviour. This often leads others to talk and eventually things get twisted and bitter. The professional then has to work much harder to repair the damage and put things straight.

It is the tall poppy that is the first to be cut, but I’ve also heard that shorter poppies will strangle taller ones in a field in order to get more sunlight.

Just some food for thought.

Once again, and I will ask politely, please leave me alone and peace to all.

What you are forgetting is that this is a two way street! What you are criticising, you are doing yourself. I thought you weren't posting on the Forum anymore? Why do you think people feel so strongly about this issue? Perhaps you are not aware of everything that goes on behind closed doors, so to speak?

I wouldn't call it Tall Poppy Syndrome whatsoever! I think Warren has done a fantastic job in having this Forum available to all of us. Anyone who decides to become a Moderator appears to mean that anyone is allowed to make any nasty comment about them. I wouldn't want to be a Moderator for the life of me!

Ever heard of Narcissistic Personality Disorder?

Then wouldn't it be true that you are guilty of this also? And I am certainly not trying to bring anybody down. The whole point of my post was that I just wanted to be left alone. It's that easy. The moderators decided to condemn me again, so be it. If you want to judge me, then that is your prerogative Red. And yes I had absolutely no intention to post ever again. Had the 3 moderators respected my wishes and left me alone instead of ganging up on me, well you wouldn't have heard a peep from me ever again.

I posted some information that would make for interesting reading, nothing more. People can read into it what they want. I have never wished for anybody to get hurt or abused, in fact it is the one thing that I fight against. I have always tried to help everyone where I could and to be fair in all instances. I guess it is a thankless task to always help others and forget yourself. So please don't blame me for running on empty.

No one is ever completely right or completely wrong and you are most probably right that I have no idea what goes on behind closed doors. Does anybody ever know this except the people involved?

Yes I am aware of 'Narcissistic Personality Disorder'. Perhaps in asking me this question, you are doing the very thing that you are accusing me of.

Peace Red.

Sure. I've never claimed to be a saint! But it is a two way street. Your argument makes it sound as though it is all one sided, that one party is innocent of all wrong doing and the other side are a bunch of "Tall Poppies". This couldn't be further from the truth. Then there's NPD!

If you don't want to receive any more e-mails and feel so strongly about wanting to be left alone, why don't you leave the Forum? You can still read information about Rosacea without being a member.

Red with all due respect, isn't it my choice whether I post or not? I don't think it is your place to make such suggestions to me. I trusted the members enough to respect a humble wish to be left alone. I ask you the same. From what I can see, you too are seeing only one side of the street. I think you misunderstood the meaning of 'tall poppies'.

Please, let it go, like it should have been 5 days ago.

Sure. It is your choice whether or not to post. But in your first post of this thread, the opening post, the thread that you started, you said that that would be your last post. It appears that you are quite upset about everything so I was merely offering you a simple choice.

I always look to the left, look to the right and then look to the left again before crossing the road. I then walk, not run.

I have a very good understanding of what it means when someone acuses another person of having Tall Poppy Syndrome. Of course, no one has done that in this thread!

Yes I am upset Red, very upset. But that's something I will have to deal with.

If you read my first post and then you read my second post, you will see why I had to do so..........a plea for everyone to leave me alone. Nothing more, nothing less.

I never intended to post again after that first post, if it wasn't for the jealous, vicious nature of some of these members, hence my second post.

As I said, this thread could have died a peaceful death had Warren not attacked me and resurrected this tiresome topic.

Wow, I count 4 moderators who now hate me. I'm so devestated

Having personal experience of doing similar i would tend to agree that its a thankless task and you will never please everyone. So Warren i too thankyou for ploughing ahead in the face of so much adversity (in comparison to the bad old days though i would say it is SO much better  ) and may you continue to operate in a fair minded and rational way.

*While i'm sucking up please can you upload some new smilies? The ones we have a choice of never seem to mimic my feelings. I mean my god this one looks like its constipated ---->:o *

As you were

I will second that as well because Warren never gets the credit he deserves, just the moans and criticism all the time.

Warren

Thanks for all the honest hard work you have done with this Forum. You know you can never please everybody.

Yep. Thanks Warren. You're doing a service to the online rosacea community and you're doing a very good job of keeping your head down and your concentration on what is important: keeping this forum honest as a place where everyone is an equal poster. I'd give you a high-five, but you're halfway around the world from me right now. 8)

While we are at it, I would like to add a thank you to the Moderators too. Warren does a fabulous job of keeping it all together, which truly is a thankless task, not to mention the hours upon hours of volunteer work which RHC listed as well as the monetary outlay, that I hadn't even thought of until RHC mentioned it. Thank you! Sadly, I wouldn't want a "Moderator" status next to my name in the Forum because it just seems to mean that you are fair game for anyone to lash out at you.

Now, the next Oscar Nomination goes to...

Warren... you have stated everything so nicely.

Thank you.

Brady - Congrats on the tax info for the RRDi. That's what I was waiting on for the other one and it never came. As soon as I do actually have a few spare bucks, I'll pass them along to the RRDi - promise. :D
