Do we really need to have this feature as sometimes I really need to edit a post and can't...for example the food trigger list thread where I would like to update the list.

I think it should stay. It prevents people from trying to change something they previously posted. It has happened before where someone posted some information and was caught lying. This person then went back and changed it and all hell broke loose on the forum.

It can be a pain, but unfortunately is a necessity around these parts.
