Hi all,
Having a red face is one thing. Having the painful neurological sxs of rosacea are another. Perhaps for me, the occular sxs of rosacea are the worst, as eye contact is so important (to me).
Anyway, my occular rosacea has been severely exacerbated in recent years due to allergies. Nothing helped. Nothing. I tried everything from Accutane to Patanol to OTC preparations.
Allergy sxs got worse and worse (eyes swelling, red, itchy, exudate, etc, you name it).
I have been on Elestat (epinastine) for about 1 month now. So far, a miracle drug for me. My eyes have not felt and looked this good in years.
Epinastine is a mast cell stabilizer (prevents mast cells from releasing histamine (which binds to histamine 1 (H1) and histamine 2 (H2) receptors, initiating the allergic response. Also blocks those same H1 and H2 receptors, so "free" histamine won't bind, either. Sort of a "two punch" approach.
