Hi there, I guess I have one of those newbie questions.
I have Rosacea, and my main problem is that my nose is chronically red, and at the worst situations, the nose will be covered with P&P's.
When browsing through the Rosacea-pages here, I see that there is much focus on minimizing the number of flushes, but I do not understand why? Will a high "flushing-frequency" make the Rosacea become worse? The strange thing is that I do not consider that I flush that really often, but my nose is constantly red, and that is my main problem.

Probably the primary theory on what causes rosacea is now the genetic vascular theory, which basically means that the heart of the rosacea beast is a disorder of the blood vessels at the microvascular level and is connected to flushing. You can read about this theory and its proponents at this url >

I have written extensively about flushing at this url >

Many rosaceans are obsessed with avoiding flushing at all costs, including ETS, avoiding anything that may trigger a flush. See this url about ETS >

If you haven't seen a dermatologist about your nose, I suggest you do and read this url >

You may have pre-phymatous rosacea and you need to treat it if this is the case. Hope this helps.

Thankyou for that information Brady. It really sorted things out.
I'm a bit worried that my rednose will turn into a rhinophyma in the future.
For now, as soon as I get problems with the nose turning really red, and that P&P's appear on it, I go to my doctor and he gives me tetracycline and metronidazol or sulfur in essex. After some days treatment the nose looks really better, so I feel rather comfortable using that treatment.
But the best thing of course would be to handle the disease by natural ways, i.e. improving my health by eating and lifestyle habits.
