Yesterday and today I have gotten several tiny zits on my upperlip, making it look swollen.. I have no clue why this happens whatsoever.. Before Accutane, my lips was always zit-free....
Can laser help both red lips an lip-zits? (Are the two problems connected?)

Thanks

We're still on this one huh. Its quite common to get "zits" or pustules around the lips because this area is densely packed with sebaceous glands to keep the lips moist.

An over the counter product that should get rid of these, moisten your lips and possibly donwngrade the redness is a clinically proven "Superlysine plus cream". You dont have to have cold sores for this to be effective -- derms use this for straight up pustules around the mouth.

On a side note, I came across a very interesting medical text with great photos of many disorders that people keep on asking about. The photos are excellent. Please focus on a few that are commonly addressed in this forum but without photos......now you have photos:

Does any one know any source like Dr. Nase posted that I can use for self diagnosis, such as seb derm or rosacea with only diffuse redness?

Well that was very interesting, perusing through all those photos. Thanks for the article Dr. Nase. Shame there wasn't any seb derm pics/solutions. I just don't get why it is so hard to kill the yeast that causes the seb derm problem? So many treatments I have used work for a week then stop working like the yeast becomes resistent.

Yesterday and today...

And I told them to use the full frontal shot but they told me that I was charging them way too much for a frontal shot, so I gave them that one for half price.

Thanks Brady. Good sense of humor. :D

I just came across this message from Dr. Nase and would LOVE to see the photos he's referring to. I think the link, however, may be expired. Any suggestions on getting access to that page?

My rosacea is accompianied by a pecular texture—not quite papules/pustules. I've had good success treating the redness with Lumenis One, but the problematic texture remains. Trying desperately to figure out which "coexisting condition" it might be.

Thank you!

its could be orange peel or perhaps KP you are referring to. Orange peel is minor thickness of epidermis and some enlarged pores.

Thank you, Fanta.

What is the best treatment for this texture problem? I have my redness fairly under control after a series of IPLs, but this texture is driving me crazy. I always had very smooth skin. The rough texture is limited to two quarter size areas on either side of my nose and appeared very suddenly about a year ago. My cheeks, forhead . . . everything else is very smooth. The rough areas coincide exactly with the areas where I'm oily and also the areas where I tend to get red.

Maybe it's seb derm, given that it's in the areas where you are oily and red.

yeah it could be seb derm, but could just be damages from inflammation.

I dont think we need to worry so much about skin texture. OK, some have prettier complexions, but always bear in mind that people with severe acne scaring do get a much better complexion with time. If you have gotten the inflammation under control I would personally not worry about skin texture. It will improve month by month as long as you keep the inflammation at bay. I think you need to take better care of your skin by avoiding sun damage and avoiding skin care that triggers inflammation. Skin care products dont really protect the skin for many of us, it produces inflammation that damages the skin. People with healthy skin can protect their skin with creams while we often only can damage the skin. Again, 10 years ago and men didnt use moisturizers. I guess that a sensitive cleanser is something to consider. Dr. Nase mentioned a sensitive cleanser by Nivea which might be worth trying. The only problem is seb derm, if you have seb derm I would not use a sensitive cleanser unless I was taking Accutane. I might be wrong here, but thats just my impression that moisturizing cleansers shouldnt be used if you need to remove much sebum.
