Thank you Geoffrey for pointing out the ethical, legal and moral obligation that the RRF has to it's donators.

I have been asking for a refund of my substantial donation since June 16th. I have tried on 4 seperate occasions and written to the appropriate authorities and each time I was given some long winded excuse as to this 'secret' upcoming grant and that it would be appreciated if I consider allowing my substantial donation to remain with the RRF.

Maria,

requests, in the good faith that donations were given, we'd like to
see a good result from the donations and the short life of the RRF."

We are in discussions with another organisation and hope to be able to
divest our donations to an approved research grant in the next few weeks.

So as you can see, I have been told that not only am I not entitled to a refund but that this magical grant is now 'a few weeks' away.

So I suppose, that David P's post on Yahoo R-S, posted on the 14th September, one day after he responded to my message above, is somewhat confusing. It read:

All,

I am pleased to announce that we are in the final stages of review and
approval for an exciting grant. We can't say yet what the topic is, but we
are confident that our supporters will be delighted with the grant and the
new opportunities for discovery and pathways into rosacea that it will
open.

We are hopeful that we can announce the title within a fortnight. The
grant has already been through rigorous review, and should emerge from the final reviews and processing shortly. We expect that all of the currently available funds will go towards this grant.

I'd like to sincerely thank all of our supporters for their generosity, we
can all be proud of what we have achieved.

regards,
davidp.

So if my maths is right, you have 1 week to make it known to all of us what this magical grant is which is quite confusing as it appears that literally overnight, I do not have to wait for 'several weeks' as quoted in the first message, but now we need only wait one week.

I more than anybody would love to see this money, our money, fund something which will truly help the plight of rosacea. I am hoping that you are a man of your word David P but if things are in the final stages, as Geoffrey pointed out, why not let those who have supported you, be privy to a little information, no matter how small.

If this is a ploy to prolong refunding money to donators, then I shall for the 5th time ask for my refund so I can redirect it to another one of my important charities.

MODERATOR NOTE:
This new topic is not about the NRS but about the RRF. I am watching this topic and if this turns into a nasty, rude debate I am moving this topic to the deleted section. I understand your concern for a refund from the RRF and you have been polite on this subject, but it should not be entitled the NRS and I have edited it to read 'RRF.' It should be noted that fraud has not been established and I have edited out your quoting Geoffrey on this. The RRF's mission statement is clear and I personally doubt they intentially were trying to be fishy. This forum is not ESFB and I will not tolerate any rude behavior as long as I remain a moderator. - Brady Barrows, Moderator

Edited out....

Moderator's Note:
Rick, you are quite right and I have so edited this to read 'RRF' instead of anything to do with the NRS which is a different topic. I would appreciate it if you keep the discussion to the RRF in this forum and go back and answer my specific question on September 20, 2005 directed to you in the NRS topic forum about the American Red Cross. I would hope you keep your comments about Dr. Nase's background civil. We will not tolerate any rudeness here. However, I do agree with you that the RRF should be given a chance to have time to be able to decide on what to do with donations and it appears from Mermaid's quote that David Pascoe is attempting to work on refunds and research. - Brady Barrows, Moderator

Hi Brady,

I apologise if my post appeared to be rude in nature as it was never my intention. I think my frustration about the RRF and the way that I have been personally dealt with, has masked my true message.

Since June 16th I have politely been asking questions about the future of the RRF and all the donations. I have totally been ignored and it is only now in September that I have been given a response.

I have been an avid follower and regular donator to the RRF and I just wanted to know what future plans lay in the pipelines. I donated in good faith and felt somewhat betrayed when no answers were provided.

I for one would be ecstatic if a grant that benefits all of us is announced in the next week or so by the RRF. My decision to ask for a refund was based on the way that I had been personally treated and the apparent secrecy of it all. I never had intentions of pocketing the refund, just to redirect it to another of the charities that I support.

I think if and when a grant is announced, we will all be extremely excited and perhaps then, people will have the confidence to start donating again.

I understand your concern and thank you for your explanation and agree with you that you posted in a polite and kind manner. What your post generated was more of a concern to me than the initial post and now that I know that I can split posts I will even do better next time. Your posts are worthy and I thank you for being in the group.

The
RRF closes down, Rick has nothing new to add, the moderation has been
excessive, so what about deleting this highly unconstructive thread?

ESFB will welcome you with open arms. You can post whatever you want over there.
The ESFB is waste of air, it was meant for people with overactive nervous system untill quite a few rosaceans decided to tear the forum apart. My advice to Ed, shut down the rosacea section or change it to a neuropathic rosacea forum - I really dont see why we have to ruin things for sufferers of serious conditions with nonsense day after day. There are 10 persons or so to blaim for this and I think we have seen enough already. A whole bunch of people should be ashamed of themselves, Im ashamed of having been part of this mob and Im thrilled not being part of it anymore. Brady, your forum is wonderful!

Thanks, but it is not my forum. Warren Stuart is the owner and php webmaster. I am simply one of the team of moderators who try to keep this postive and not like ESFB.
