Hello Folks,

I have had moderate rosacea for about 4 years. Few weeks ago, I went on a picnic in a hot weather with full sun. I usually dont wear sunglasses because I never had any problems with the eyes. Biggest Mistake!! Since then my eyes had been watery and bloodshot. I can also see little veins spreaded all around. I was sure that my rosacea had progressed into Oculur stage. I went to see the family doc so he could set up an appointment to see the eye specialist. But he prescribed me Patanol and said it could be an allergy. I told him about the rosacea but as always this doctor just like others was also totally dumb about rosacea. I tried Patanol for two days and its amazing. As soon as you put 2 drops in your eyes, the redness fades away quickly. Also the veins are dissappearing as well. I am not sure if this is the long term drug for Oculur Rosacea since it is only prescribed for allergies.
Does anyone have experience with Patanol or still using it?

Glad you're liking Patanol. You can use this drug as long as you want.

My eye dr Rx'd this to me as well but I've had mediocre success. I was then Rx'd Tobradex for a short term "boost." My dr says after my "time" with Tobradex I will probably (hopefully) react more favorably to other drugs. (Tobradex is one of the eye products you are absolutely not allowed to use long term.)

Also, practicing good eye hygiene is helpful. A lot of dr's rec a warm washcloth to clean the lid margin. (Very gentle, don't tear your eyes out.)
I take Q-tips. I wet them, and pull my eyelid down and "wash" around my eye lashes, etc. Think putting on eyeliner. You want to get close but you don't poke your eyes out. Some people use baby shampoo to aid in this (when using a washcloth) but I don't. I do this twice a day, AM and PM. I put in the eye drops after I do this.
