Hi I am 22 years old, living in Norway. After several searches on google I finally found a non-commercial place to find information and treatment. I am glad to be here. Dr Nase I am so glad you are here and giving me hope.
I had early signs of being red-cheeked already at 10 years old. But not much, it was more like a "healthy glow". At 14 a girl asked me: Are you always that red, or are you blushing? I didnt know what to answer, as i was not blushing inside, and i answered something like "I am like this".
From that moment I started noticing how much more red i was on my cheeks than my friends and other people. I became very self concious at time. Already being a naturally calm and a little shy, this didnt excactly help much. Getting comments like "youve got such cute red cheeks" isnt very cool, especially since I am a guy.
Things gradually became worse (redness on cheeks) until it was permanent at age 15-16. If you want to know what I look like, think Prince Harry with red cheeks.
I find my condition extremely annoying and affecting my self asteem much. Its not that I got bad self asteem, but I dont like that people might think I am aroused, blushing, freezing all the time. Is having a normal cheek to much to ask? I am pretty good looking apart from the redness, and I would gladly trade all my good looks into average looks just to be released from this redness so that I could be myself and relax.
As I read about people here having a lot worse conditions than me, I can understand how you feel, and it makes me hate this rosacea disease a lot. A lot.
Because rosacea is a disease that continue advancing if it is not treated, I want to start treating it as soon as possible. I am scared to death. Change my eating pattern completely? No problem, as long as it can reverse or stop rosacea... I got no problem sacrifising a lot if i can treat this.
I have a few questions I would appreciate answered:
ANTI RED PRODUCTS:
*Rosacea-Ltd III
*ZENMED™ Anti-Redness Mask
Are these products good, or are there any other good anti-red-products out there?
CONCILER:
Will using a conciler to hide my redness boost the development of rosacea or may I do so?
MY CONDITION:
*Will permanent redness always develop into more and more severe red face or is there hope it can stay at this level without laser treatment?
Basically, what will I look like 10-20 years from now?
*Even though i dont have acne- or big-nose-rosacea now, is it likely I will develop it in the future?
A lot of questions.. A lot of storytelling about myself. Because this is so important to me.
