I have found a derm who I really think can help (at least until Dr. Nase is up-and-running in Eugene); Dr. Bruce Russell in Beaverton, OR (next to Portland). Dr. Russell has expertise in chronic skin diseases including rosacea and seb. derm. He helps design lasers for Cutera (the Genesis 1064 YAG) in the U.S. and Omnilux in the UK. He knows lasers inside and out as well as skin diseases and can creatively tweak the parameters on these machines for each individual for maximum efficacy while staying in the safety zone.
He knows more about rosacea than I do! He listens! He does not rush! He does not look at me queerly when I describe my symptoms!
I start treatment with him (Laser Genesis in combination with Xeo IPL) as soon as I can, which is end of August. I have no doubt that this doctor will help me as much as is possible using the equipment and knowledge that is available today. Laser doctors from around the world send him pictures of people who have been harmed by lasers and he works with them to help those patients and incorporates all of their input into the treatment protocols that he teaches and into the lasers that he designs. He is the physician of "last resort" for derms in the Portland area.
Having said all of this, I have not yet had a tx with him and I know you want firsthand reports, not rumors. I will post on this board after I start getting results from my first tx. You can take a look at his curriculum vitae on his Web site or give his staff a call:
