Hi Dr Nase .
I am about to start taking accutane ,remember i asked you about me obtaining them off the internet ,which i did because the docs in the UK do not like giving it out .
My question is can i vary my dose between 5mg one day then 10 mg the next alternating so on average i will be takong 7.5 mg aversg over a week .
Also what would be the best thing to use to stop the dry lips and skin ,i am assuming this will happen to me but maybe i will be lucky (i do not think so ) thanks for being here for us ,my life would not have any hope without your continuing support
My grandfather had the mast awful large nose destroyed by rhynomopia, sorry about the spelling

Hi Shaun,

I took 20 Mg of Accutane each day and I did get dry, but it was certainly bearable. I carried Lip Moisturizer around with me everywhere I went and that seemed to do the job for me. I found a holder for the lip moisturizer that attached to my keychain and I made sure I always had it nearby.

I think the dryness thing will be OK.

Hi Shaun

I have been taking Roaccutane for almost a year now (with a short break) and my dermatologist also prescribes Diprobase. You can buy this OTC but it costs around £10, i.e. more than a prescription charge so it's cheaper to get a script. A good GP would give you this.

I smother my face and body with this stuff at bedtime - not very sociable - but it's an emollient and I think this means it doesn't add oil to the skin but creates a barrier to keep natural moisture in.

Anyway, it works a treat for me. Has eliminated dryness and stopped my lips from skinning.
