I know that ssri´s against depression can help against flushing, but can st johns wort also do this cause it acts against depression? Many reports show that st johns wort acts against depression as good as anti-depressants but without the sideeffects these can give you. Does anyone know if it can help against flushing that is due to the increased leves of stresshormones such as kortisol gives you? :?:

I have been told by a doctor that this is not a good product.

Hello there. Didn't he give you a reason for his affirmation?
For me it's been great. I've used it for a couple of months during a troubled period of my life and it helped.
Just have to watch out for possible photosensitivity and you must give it time to work.

Best wishes,

Adrian

It was a few weeks ago. She was about to prescribe me Lexapro but I was rattling off every thing I take to make sure there would be no bad reactions. I told her I was on a lot of supplements and she interrupted me and said "not st. john's wart!" and I said "no" and she said "oh good!" Maybe it's just tough on people who have anxiety issues? That's what I"m on the Lexapro for. Actually it's anxiety issues mostly related to my rosacea. Annie

st johns wort is a good product..its just not good to use it with certain type of other drugs..such as anti depressants. Thats what ur doctor meant. But that kind of info is always labeled on st johns wort products. It interacts bad with a few medicines and shouldnt be take at the same time as those.

I wonder if the photosensitivity part is a problem. For years (before Rosacea) I used St. Johns off and on as needed and it works great for me for low grade depression or periods of anxiety. Last year was the first time however that I developed burning w/the rosacea and someone mentioned to stop the St. Johns - I still have the burning and always wonder if that was the trigger....
