some years ago, when i was rather a newbie in this - what's it called - ahh - rosacea:) i tested a lot of different topicals to see if they are of use.

starting with mosturizers, some of these special for rosacean skin treatments, metro aso.

it took me some days to find out the are of no use at all and cause irritation...

than i stopped that and was using them just on one side, or a small spot (cheek) to check what they are doing. this can be really helpful, cause it's hard to evaluate (having a disease with regulary ups and downs in mind) there effect.

i did never find anything really benefitial, but what i recognized was, that there are some products, where it can take up to a month, where skin starts to show different reactions than on untreated regions.

so it might be a good advice for those that use topicals an a daily basis for a long time - ask yourself, if you'd really be able to realize if this thing you apply does maybe just slighty worsen your skin? or does nothing at all?

I did it with tretinoin before. I noticed no difference in redness but my skin got smoother.

I've never been on Rx meds specifically for rosacea. (or used w/ treating it in mind)

Hi, I find that I cannot use my metrocream while i am on 10mg per day Sotret isotretinnoin -- so I am testing moisturizers this way. Left side of forehead, only part of face that isn't dry and rosacea dermatitis-y is the place.

Testing Neutrogena Sensitive SKin moisturizer there now.

I am curious if we can use tretinoin on existing scars(just spot treat)?
Although I do not want to irritate the underlying condition, these scars are rather large. Is this a bad or good idea since I am going to get IPL and YAG treatments in the next few years? I wonder if the damage that the tretinoin might do would be reversed anyways by these treatments?

if you're going to have laser/ipl treatments you could ask your doc to do an extra pass on this scars? - i think there are devices that are actually used in treating scars.
