Hi all,
Yesterday I went for a walk in the mountains (1140m). The weather was pretty good, with some wind, light clouds and occasional sun. The trip lastetd for aprrox 4 hours.
When I came back home I was pretty pale. But later in the evening, after a shower and some relaxing my face was pretty flushed, just like a mild sunburn. I have NEVER had this before. At most 1hour flushes. (Very rare). My question now is: Can this actually be a mild sunburn? I didn't put sunscreen on (stupid me). On a sidenote, I have recently started taking Pycogenol complex (Pycogenol and grapeseed) and Ester C.
I appreciate all replies :)

I think it is definitely sun aggravated flushing.
it is SO important to wear sunscreen and if possible a hat, even when walking in cloudy weather, as yr skin is still exposed to UV. I think yr flushing will subside if you don't normally flush, however you don't want to do this again as you could trigger a regular flushing response and believe me you really DO NOT want that.

Thank you Sally_ann.
The weird thing here is that I have been sitting in the sun for several hours before with no real flushing. (I have been wearing sunscreen though) I think I may have read something about that Pycogenol can induce some mild flushing in large doses. (I startet with 200mg/day)
But as I know nothing about this, it's just a shot in the dark.

I think i remember Dr Nase talking about building up to a large dose as it may cause irritation but to me it sounds like you had a rebound flush due to the walk and sun.

Alright :) :) As things change, your explanation might be correct. (Even thought it has never happened berofre) Quite irritating though as I am still reddish in the face. 24hours now

Hi G24,
Two years ago, back when my rosacea symptoms had just started, I went for a short late night walk on the beach just before sunset. Many hours later, when I was in bed I flushed. It was a weird experience, but I think Dr. Nase talks about it in his book.
At that point, I was still struggling to find a sunscreen I could tolerate, so I probably didn't have a sunscreen on either.

Thanks Tamara, that might just be the reason. I have actually found a good sunscreen, so I guess I should wear it more often :)

Flush. The sun is my main trigger and my diagnosis was delayed because i was reporting frequent sunburn - The flush mimics sunbunrn pretty closely. Sometimes i react to the sun immedately feeling irritated and then flushng but more often the flush occurs a few hours after exposure and it's hard to predict how bad it will be. Proceed with caution until you find out how much you can really handle. if it becomes a real problem try sunscreen and a hat and restricting your outdoor actvites to the morning or late afternoon - especially in the summer.

The other day I had a nice ride in a fast boat :D... During the ride (5 hours), my face was constantly exposed to both the sun an wind... And guess what, no flush :) Weird, but good news for me.

Hey G24, I'm wondering, did you wear a hat or use sunscreen?

Thanks Tamara :)
Yes, I did use SPF12 sunscreen, but I did only apply once before I left my house around 13pm...
