Dr. Nase,
Recommended not long ago to wait 3 months after your last IPL to begin low dose accutane. I am having such a hard time with P&P right now, I need to consider accutane sooner. What damage or loss will i have by going on accutane sooner than 3months, say 3 weeks after my last IPL?
Also, what risks do you think are run being on 10mg/day for three years? Bone issues primarily?
Thanks so much,
Trey

Yes, this has been something I have been wondering as well.

Bone issues? Is accutane bad for bones?
I'd really like to know, since I'm having some issues with a degenerative disc in my back and I don't want to further damage it.

I don't think that I would recomend doing that.
Two years ago I went on accutane (5mg every day) for 6 months.
I then waited 2 1/2 months before under going ipl. the next day after ipl I broke out with tiny bumps and inflamation all over the areas that had been treated.
I had to go on oral steroids for two weeks to reduce the swelling.
I don't know if taking accutane a few weeks post ipl would cause a similar reaction but I wouldn't risk it
hope this helps.

Kelli,
I hope I didn't scare you. I'm no expert in this subject matter so Dr. Nase will have to fill you in where I'm wrong, but the bone issue I was talking about was the possibility of developing bone spurs, which arise from the long term use of accutane from its effects on hormones. This is the reason for regular bone scans, especially of the spine (which is the area most prone to this from what I understand).
Any other effects that I should be considering (such as intelligence loss)?
What damage or loss will i have by going on accutane sooner than 3months, say 3 weeks after my last IPL?
Thanks,
Trey
