Hello. Has anyone tried products containing Mexoryl? It's supposed to be outstanding at protecting against UVA and UVB but our enlightened FDA here in the U.S has not yet approved its use.
It seems to be available everywhere else and I'm wondering if its worth paying extra to get it.
Thanks,
Tricia

Hello. Has anyone tried products containing Mexoryl?
i guess you could order sunscreen with mexoryl as active ingredient from ebay and have shipped it to us. (guess its legal).
one of it's benefits might be that it doesn't clog pores? but i'm not sure and i haven't found any posts from rosaceans. but maybe it's worth a try...

I've tried Ombrelle with Mexoryl SX and Parsol 1789 (I understand it's only available here in Canada). It causes irritation to my face, but I use it on the rest of my body with no problems. I was really hoping it would work for me because it does protect against UVA rays which, according to recent studies, are now considered just as dangerous as UVB. But, so far the only thing that's working well for my face is an adjustable face visor with a tinted shield that I can pull down over my face. It blocks 99.9% UVB rays and 97% UVA rays. I got it at www.facevisor.com . I was hoping I could find a topical sunscreen that doesn't irritate my face that offers similar protection, but I don't think one exists. According to a study posted on RS -- sunscreens only block 50% of UVA rays. Does anyone know if this applies to both chemical and mineral sunscreens? The study didn't say which types were tested.
