Hi

it is nearly midnight here and I am so confused that it hurts. I'd love to have a glossary of terms. I thought that IPL referred to intense pulsed light and that Lumenis Vasculight, Photoderm were IPL devices. The vasculight device used by my derm has several different heads SR, VL and HR.

If I have an IPL treament, will I just get the SR head which is useless for rosacea.

The RN will do the 2 passes but not with the same head because she says it will burn my skin. So the SR head must target differently than the VL head.

Should the RN even be using the SR head if it does not target blood vessels.

If anyone has had treatment with the Lumenis Vasculight, please help me. My head is spinning with all terminology.

Thanks
Linda

Hi,

First thing, I know how you feel! It is so overwhelming when you first start to research rosacea and rosacea treatments. Never fear, there are some good people around here who will take the time to see you straight.

I personally cant explain the difference between these different machines. However, I can tell you that a good IPL doc should know who best to treat you, not the other way around. If you need to tell the doc how to perform the treatment then run, run a mile! All you should be concerned about is finding the right practicioner and being able to articulate your symptoms successfully (something i had trouble doing initially).

Hope this helps :)

Hi Linda,

I can see that you're really eager to get some information about IPL/laser treatments. There has been a wealth of information posted on the RS Board about the Lumenis One and double and triple passes since the middle of March 2005. If you go there and do a search for "Lumenis" or "Lumenis One" and perhaps "double" or "triple" passes as well, you should get a lot of information. It will be a lot of work to wade through it, but well worth the effort if it lets you get your face properly treated. Dr. Nase suggests that people have double and triple passes with different laser/IPL devices all on the same day. Different devices and different filters treat different layers of our faces. He published a very good article about in in Dermatology Times this spring. It would help if you could find that article.

I imagine, given time, that this wonderful Rosacea Forum will have the information available and organized where you can just go read it, but I know they are scrambling just to get us this far. They deserve many kudos, and it's exciting to imagine what this forum will be like given time.

From what people said on the RS Board it sounds like it's well worth your time to understand all this and get the proper treatment. People who have gotten GREAT treatment have been RAVING about the GREAT results.

Hope this helps a little,

Tamara
