Shaun,

Professionally I cannot reply to that.

Personally, as Geoffrey Nase, I would recommend several things:

1. Make sure they are enclosed completely in air reinforced tight foil packaging..

2. Check the expiration date

3. Check the color, size of the pill, pill encasing against a PDR or online photo of what Isotane looks like.

4. Check the manufacturer to make sure they actually make Isotane (like the Dateline episode where knockoffs where selling Panasoinic instead of Panasonic).

Then you have covered the most obvious bases

5. Tell your main doctor that you are taking these and he will have to give you wellness checks. Check liver function and kidney function.

Dear Shaun

Well done getting Accutane off the net. I'm sure your persistence will pay off and you will get good results.

To anyone else not able to get a prescription for Accutane in the UK, I would like to say... persevere. Play the game. Try all the antibiotics, metros, Elidel etc. then if nothing works, go back and DEMAND this stuff.

After two fruitless years handing me useless prescriptions, and finally hearing about the fortune I was spending on laser treatment, my GP sent me to another dermatologist for a second opinion. (My first derm had a side line in V Beam and never once mentioned isotretinoin). My new derm showed me some 'before' and 'after' pictures of people with the same complaint as me and prescribed Roaccutane straight away.

Remember folks - Nil desperandum!
