Hi Dr. Nase,

On Monday I had CO2 laser treatment for some Sebaceous Hyperplasia on my face. The doctor said I would still be able to keep my appointment for an IPL scheduled 7 days later(the 27th). I contacted the IPL doctor and his nurse said if there were no open sores I could have the IPL. It's Thurs. and the treated area is still very tender. I am leaning hard against the IPL because of this. My problem is I'm 1600 miles from home, so it will be hard to reschedule the IPL and the doctor is an excellent IPL doctor in AZ. What is your impression of this situation?? Thank you.

Tom

My doctor did both on the same day. Just moved a mm off the middle of the CO2 trauma and I was fine.

Please make sure your doctor gives it a thorough lookover and hold him accountable if he wants to go ahead.

Most of my seb hyps seemed circular. He did about 15 of them. As far as scarring or pigmentation problems, it's too soon to tell as this was done on Monday(20th). I sure hope not. That's why I'm concerned about doing the IPL so soon after the CO2 laser treatment.

Tom,

He could just use the smallest IPL crystal and avoid those areas altogether.

To kill the evil sebaceous gland hyperplasias is incredibly hard because you have to go down the right depth to kill the first couple faulty cell lines and then seal the infundibular canal shut.

Thanks for your advice, Dr. Nase. It will help much in my decision making.

Tom,
What is the update? Any scars? How did it go?

Also, if the seb hyp was not circular or donut shapped, then what shape are they? Im trying to determine what I have. I have this lumpy bump skin that seems to store sebum (if i squeeze them, sometimes i guet little white "worms" that come out"). Don't know how to take care of it other than nlite or accutane. Just need to know that Im diagnosing it right.

Best,
Trey

My seb hyp was mostly circular, but nothing would ever come out of them. It looked more like the skin was raised up slightly. I have red spots where each was treated that will probably take time to go away. I hope there are no permanent scars or pigmentation problems.

Tom,
Thanks for the update!

Did your seb hyp look like the following picture?

My bumps seem to be very small, almost unnoticable in the morning, and get bigger by 7 to 8pm (after work). Did yours shrink and grow during the day too?

Very helpful to me diagnosing.

Thanks again,
Trey
