IPL settings and Sebaceous Glands

Dear Dr Nase..

Having some good success with IPL tx for tealnegesisa/flushing.
From a cosmetic point of view sebaceous glands on my nose are still very dilated and open (oh I’m so vain!!)
Cool).
Realise that accutane is the way to go.
From an IPL point of view would it be best to have the laser set to treat the very superficial levels of the skin (where the pores are so to speak).
At this stage of my TX my Doc is targeting the deeper vessels therefore ? wont effect reduction in pore size??

Yessuh, accutane will shrink your pore size for a while and help with the constant facial redness. Also it will reduce your oil production from your sebaceous glands by shrinking them. Good luck with your IPLs. Who are you getting them from?

Its a guy in the UK (Dr Patterson). I believe he's one of the most used laser doc's by rosaceans over here.. Only had two so far but with good results in the superficial telengenicsa department. I've gotta go for the big pre IPL flush next time..

...Last time I actually did a HEADSTAND for 3 mins to induce a good flush but it didn't last long enough!!! (I always knew those gymnastic classes would pay off one day!!)

I think IPL isn’t gonna be the whole story for me though... (one TX never is it!). I don't wanna big it up too much but accutane seems tailor made for my symptoms...

I just need to convince a derm over here to give into me.. Am building up a folder of evidence for this... papers/ Dr Nase posts to this forum etc...

Hopefully I know more then the derm about low dose and they'll just hand the drug over.. Heh heh..

I'm with Dr P too for redness/flushing/blushing and already i've seen a reduction in flushing after one treatment.

I didn't bother finding out my settings, i will next time though cos i want to know what filters i'm getting and if i'm gonna get more than a single pass.

As for the accutane, i bought mine off the net. The NHS is useless. After 4 more IPLs i'll start my accutane. :lol:

Doesn't he give patients topical niacin to get them flushed?

Are you seeing him at Woodford medical?? I see him (Dr P) at a satellite clinic near derby...

Had my 2nd IPL just last week.. tiny bit of bruising but good otherwise. There’s a cooling mask that he offers post TX that really seem to help 2 dampen down the mild swelling/redness I had...

I think he's going to use the niacin next time.. though I seem to remember reading somewhere it can be abit too harsh..?? But my headstand theory didn’t really work so...!!

...Yeah I need to ask him re 2nd pass as well. I know he upped the power on my last TX. (there’s a good bit in Dr Nases book on this; page - 185 Continual advances in TX protocols). Also on Dr Nase web site there's that paper he published recently with Dr Darm think I'll take a copy of that along..

I know that people on the forum have warned against buying accutane of the net.. But I know wot derms in the uk can be like.. its a tough one...

Yeah i'm seeing him in Danbury, nice little clinic!!

I've got my next full face treatment on tues (i'm having 4 more 3 weeks apart) but i had a nasty reaction on my chin (some pics on this forum) and we're trying to figure out the reason so i dunno what we're gonna do about the settings next time.

www.healthychoicepharmacy.com is always there if you can't get the accutane lol, i've used them twice now for accutane, minocycline, erythromycin etc and they've always been fast. Alot of the UK derms have the impression etched in their minds that accutane is only a last resort after every other med under the sun and only if you have severe acne. Too few experts in the UK.

I got the mask, feel like eating it though, just like jelly. :P
