I have read a lot of good things about Emu Oil on a couple of forums. Has anyone here tried it?

I have used the pure form of emu oil now for a week and it has reduced my redness a bit and it feels comfortable to use it on my skin, thats it. Its worth trying.

Hi I have used pure emu oil and I really like it. I only use it in the winter time now as it is better when the air is drier. I only use 1 drop with a couple of drops of water mixed in then apply it to my face. The trick with this oil is a little goes a long way. :D

EMU oil on its own did very little for me, and couldn't even moisturise through my sebderm flares. However, as one ingredient of many in a product from Purple Emu called Blemish Controlhttp://www.purpleemu.com/store/arbenefits.html, for me it was most effective.

I really like this oil. It has helped a little with redness, seems to be surpressing my acne - the most notable difference for me is the reduction in burning. Didn't think one with oily skin would need oil but I guess I was mistaken. Definately worth it!

Cool, I got it in the mail today. 8)
So it also helps regular acne? I got some on the back of my shoulder. Can I use it there?

When I first put Emu Oil on my face it felt very calming and soothing. By the end of the first day my angry face had become much calmer. There is no allergic reaction to it because it is a completely natural product. Very moisturising. I also noticed that the burning sensation completely stopped. I am very excited about Emu Oil and will continue using it. It blows away other creams. As I live in the UK I obtained mine from www.crystalskin.net. I am also trying their Redness and Blemish Control Cream but cannot comment as yet as I am only just starting. I will report back after a week.

Hi All,
I am on metrogel and use emu oil as my only other topical. It is very moisturising and I have never had any reaction to it. My skin is in much better condition than it has been with any other moisturiser and it is much cheeper!!
I buy purple emu refined emu oil of the internet. I also use the soap.

Hi Moomy
Welcome to the Forum and thanks for reviving an old thread. Good to see you have been looking through past posts. There's a lot to read, huh!
I too love Emu Oil. My most favourite natural oil is Rose Hip Oil and that always goes on first in the morning. I like using Emu Oil over that, before putting on makeup - makes it easier to apply (liquid makeup). I also find Emu Oil helps to moisturise and perhaps helping with the healing of p&p's too. My skin is more oily and some have said that using oils would be 'oily' on the skin, but I don't find that at all.
Yup, I would recommend it too. Only a tiny bit needed to a damp face, which is good value for money.

If you don't mind Jen, can I ask where you purchase your Emu oil?

Just from my local health shop, s-kid. It's a "Go Vita" health shop. The brand I have is called "Emu Spirit" Oil of Emu, 125ml for AUD28.25. There may well be better deals around but I don't have a lot of choice where I live.

Thanks, I actually saw this brand on an online store but it didn't list ingedients or give much information so I was a little worried. Thanks for the info :D

Ingredients read:
"Active ingredient: Emu Oil 5mL/5mL"
So, it's the pure stuff.
Yeah but have you ever looked up close at the skin of an Emu? There's a bunch of them up the road from me and it's not a pretty sight! Maybe it's their pure living that makes their oil so good?

Awesome, I'm going try and get some asap. I did a little reading up on it and found you can actually drink the oil to help inflammation/skin, has anyone tried this?

Yes, it says on my bottle that it can also be taken internally but I haven't tried it. I may just re-look at that again. Let us know if you try that too s-kid.

I use emu oil mixed with hyaluronic acid for my moisturizer and I find it very soothing and non-irritating. For m it does help reduce redness and inflammation. Emu oil is well known for its anti-inflammatory properties and for the fact that its fatty acid profile closely resembles that of human skin.

I took my sons up to the Spring Festival today and the first stall I saw had Emu Oil products. So, I stopped to have a look.
Their web site is http://www.emuessence.com.au/ and their prices are better than what I can buy locally. They are based in rural Australia but a long way from where I live. So it was good to be able to talk face to face and ask questions.
Anyway, just to give a comparison, the pure emu oil I bought at the local health shop cost me AUD28.25 for 125mL, as mentioned in a post above. This mob sell 200mL for AUD26, which is a much better deal. I also bought some shampoo and conditioner and some eye cream.
Just thought I would mention this, as I'm always happy to know about a product that has a better price tag. Don't worry, I've been here long enough for you guys to know that I am NOT making money from this!!! Just sharing a less expensive product, same quality as what I have here already.

Jen,
- Are you presently an "agent" or have you ever been an "agent" for the Emu Conglomeration?

Jen,

 No Duke! I first found out about Emu Oil from posts over at the RSG in Yahoo, so thought I would try it myself. I have quite a few natural oils here and I like the idea that they are natural products. I've also tried Rose Hip Oil, Jojoba Oil, Hemp Seed Oil and Tea Tree Oil.
I promise you, I am not an agent for any company or conglomeration whatsoever.

I always go back to Emu oil. I get mine from www.laidinmt.com. It has never irritated my skin and seems to help the rosacea. I tend to think Emu is non-irritating for me because it's not a plant oil. I wouldn't be surprised if there were indeed some anti-inflammatory properties. My skin does love it.
I find that if I gently "soak" my skin before applying the oil, moisture is trapped in more effectively and my dry skin stays moisturized with no flakes. After spreading on my cleanser, I soak a washcloth and gently press on my skin several times for 3 minutes or so and rinse well. I use tepid water..just cool enough to soothe..never cold water. This method opens the pores a bit and allows water in. Also, ceansing is more effective, cleanser is washed away more thoroughly, and the skin is slightly cooled by the tepid water "compress". Then I spread 2-3 drops of oil over top and the moisture is trapped in. I often mix in a bit of hyaluronic acid, too.
I do this when I wash, twice daily, and I've been very happy with it.
Cheers!

I thought Emu Oil was pretty expensive here but seeing the prices on the web site you mentioned, I can't complain now, can I?! 8oz (237mL) for USD60 compared to 200mL for AUD26. Maybe I should get into the business! All I would have to do is buy the two houses on the other side of my house, demolish them, get a permit from the local council, buy some Emus, construct a factory and bottle the good oil.
I like the idea of leaving a wash cloth on your face to open up the pores. This makes good sense and will give it a go. I'm always grateful for your info Artist.

Jen: ha ha ha! Thanks. Same back to you, a thousand times!
I definately feel like my Emu oil is pretty expensive. I'd like to use it all over, but I only use it on the face because of the price. Maybe I can find a better price. The laidinmt is a milky consistency, and I like that. I ordered some from www.fromnaturewithlove and it was clear. I prefer the milky version.
The soaking washcloth was surprisingly soothing and effective for my dry, flakey skin issues. If you use bottled water to wash your face with, which I suggest, another tip is not to store it on the floor. It becomes a bit too cold there for me. I store it up on a shelf and it doesn't become as cold.
Before rosacea I never imagined I'd be caught up in such face washing details. But, if a few extra simple steps will help, I'm game :D

I tried the puple emu redness and blemish control cream and it was terrible. I had hundreds of spots. I contacted the woman who owns the company who said it was due to the bacteria leaving my skin and that I should carry on, I did for a while but it was so bad it scared me. My skin did seem a bit less red though (even tough I had hundreds of spots).
I'm back on my metrogel now and am red but spot free. This is my favorite way to be (well relatively), as it can be well hidden with make up.
still love the plain emu oil though.

I saw this forum come up on Google.
You may notice from my user name that I am from Emu Essence. My sister and mother run the business from their farm in Kukerin, Western Australia. I have created a web site for them where you can use PayPal and order from anywhere in the world (delivery should be less than 14 days wherever you live). Their prices are good because there is no middle man.
The site is www.emuessence.com.au (and whoever recommended them on this site was telling the truth - they are not anything to do with us!)
It is a great product (I may be slightly biased!) but I do use it myself. Lots of people love it for eczema, rosacea, arthritis and acne (haven't heard of anyone having success with severe acne though). I just like it 'cause it feels lovely!

Normally we do not allow advertising on this Forum. I was the one who recommended your product, from the Spring show in Kalgoorlie, when I first noticed that your products were cheaper and could be sent overseas.
I am glad that you clarified that I have nothing to do with your company. Thank you.
As far as any further posts that you might make on this Forum, please refrain from inserting a link to your company web site. I had already inserted a link to your company web site and was challenged about being connected in some way! I am so glad that you have straightened that out!
Many thanks
Jen
