Hi Everyone. Nice to see some familiar names on the new board, fantastic format by the way!

I know some of you have been curious how my treatments with Darm are going so here is an update.

Two weeks ago I went in for the multiple tx protocal (3 in 5 days).
Let me just tell you I was scared youknowwhatless because I
was sure my skin would not be able to handle it. I would have
put money on it!

Everything went fine and I was looking better and better after
each treatment. Before the last, I sat in my car for an hour after
putting ont he Lasercane with the heat blasting and it was still
hard for me to get a good flush going, so something is working!

I've had 5 sessions so far and I'm really pleased with the results.
The flushing I'd say has been reduced by 80% and I'm even ok
when not taking Clonidine. I've also felt minimal to no burning.
I'm still not back to my full activities however as I've really been
trying hard not to do anything thaty makes me flush so I can' give
a full report on this yet. I can however give a crtitique on just
about any movie that's playing because I've seen them all!

The redness is down too, probably by 50%-60% but sometimes
it's more like 90%, seems to depend on the time of day. Plus my
skin is still recuperating so it may be too early to comment on
this as well. It's kind of weird, I look fine but on the inside of my
face I feel things moving around, almost like I can feel things
regrouping.

The only problem I'm having is that my seb derm really kicks in
while on the Biaxin. I tried using Ovace (the generic form) but my
skin doesn't like it, there's a lot of harsh deteregents in there.
Any of you budding chemists out there know if it would be
possible to mix sodium sulfacetamide in with a gentle cleanser
like Zia?

Anyway. That's it for now. I'm not on the board much so if you
have questions please email me directly. Please check the
archives on the RS board first as I've posted a lot on this subject.

I hope everyone is well and pale!

Thank you Tricia!

I had emailed you a few weeks ago about Dr. Darm and the possibility of going to him for laser treatments. I have been considering this for a very long time, and your posts, along with Dr. Nase's, convinced me to see Dr. Darm for a consultation. He was very professional and helpful. I am scheduled to go in this Friday for my first treatment and am very hopeful. Your follow-ups are especially appreciated.

Also, this forum is truly the BEST - Thank you, Warren and Dr. Nase. I followed the Yahoo Rosacea Board and the ESFB forum for a couple years, but this one is incredibly informational and well organized.

Tricia--would you please refresh my memory about how your condition was before seeing Dr. Darm and what lasers/treatments you had used before seeing him?

My biggest trigger is still heat, physical activity (even mild activity) and I can still flush by "ignoring" my body temperature and not drinking iced water to cool myself.

I have a friend near Portland, and I'm considering seeing Dr. Darm for a session of three treatments. The expenses are kind of daunting, though. Could you give an idea of what you were able to do before (normal day-to-day activities, exercise, chores, etc.) treatment? I'm trying to gauge how I am now and if it's worth going out there to get a more normal life back. I know--it's a difficult question to answer as we all vary so much--but I'd very much appreciate any information you could give about your subtype, the manifestation of your rosacea in day-to-day life, etc.

Thank you.

David

Hi Tricia,

Glad to know that you have good result with your treatments. Please post your update later.

Have you asked Dr. Darm to treat your seb derm with laser?

Best wishes
