Hi Linda!
Have you been seeing Dr. Laughlin? Or are you thinking of it?
I live in Ottawa too!!! I actually went to see Dr. Laughlin for a laser consult over a year ago. She was really pushing Pulsed Dye and strongly and emphatically stated that you had to undergo severe bruising in order to get the benefit of treatment. SHe showed me pics of what that meant and it was HORRIFYING. When I asked her about IPL she said I could have it but she firmly believed it WOULD NOT WORK (and Pulsed Dye was the only way to go....).
I did not feel comfortable to proceed with her protocol at that time. I wonder now what her stance is (if it has changed)?
All I know is there is NO WAY I would feel comfortable with the Pulsed Dye procedure and massive bruising she was advocating. Personally speaking.
Can you update us Ottawans (and Ontario poeple) if you know what machines and protocols she is currently using? It would be interesting to know. SHe has treated thousands of people and is quoted in Dr. Nase's book (and I believe she teaches at Ottawa U, in the Dermatology dept.). Her office did not provide before/after pictures of clients which I would have loved to have seen....

Hi there my fellow canadian
I have had some treatment by Dr. Laughlin. She told me the same thing about the pulsed dye and the need to bruise. The first time I saw her was about 15 years ago and i don't think that IPL was around then. I had the pulsed dye and I was bruised for a while. I saw here again about 6 years ago. She told me the same thing about bruising. At that time, she did have the IPL technology but told me that the pulsed dye could accomplish in one treatment what the IPL would do in 5. For me, I could not commit to the travel due to expense and work .
Right now I am having treatments at the landells clinic . I have seen improvment but the RNs who do the treatments only use the pre-sets which I feel are not going to provide me with further benefits.
If you decide to consult with her again, I'd love to know what she says. She does her own treatments and I feel confident that she would be able to adjust the settings for individual needs. In fact, I just went to the laserderm.ca site and was thinking about calling the office on Monday. I would like to speak to her but I don't know if she will accept my questions.
If you'd like to chat privately, I'll post my e-mail on my profile so that you can contact me.
Would love to know what products you are using.
have a great day. hope the humidity and heat have subsided.
Linda
