Hello,
I am so happy to find this forum! I am a 31 year old female. I was first diagnosed with Rosacea about 9 months ago. At the time I only had a few tiny red bumps on my right cheek. My Dr put me on Metrogel. The red bumps did not go away and still remain in the exact same spot to this day.
About 2 months ago I started getting more red bumps. I started to get them all over my face and neck (and a few on my chest). My Dr then put me on sulfacetamide with sulfur cream.
Since I started using the cream my face has taken a turn for the worse. I now have huge pimple like bumbs all over my cheeks and forehead! My face itches so bad! I feel horrible and I look horrible! I am starting to lose hope and feel helpless.
Has anyone experienced similar issues when on this cream? Should my condition get worse before it gets better? Is this a sign that the medication is working? I can't tell if this is a side effect or the effect of treatment.
Please help!
Best Regards,
April

How long have you been using the sulfur cream?
Do you have facial redness or broken blood vessels, or just the bumps?
Are they filled with pus like zits, or are they just bumps?

Which kind of Sulfur cream? is it Plexion?
I was put on a number of those and they never did anyting for me, either. Just made my face dry and stinky! hated that crap!

Plexion works wonders for me.... rosanil made me blow up. I think Dr. nase posted once that they are supposed to be the same but rosanil had some ingrediants that we should stay away from. But plexion is great. Yeah, it does stink though. I usually use it when I shower at night.

Dr. Nase would probably punch me, but if you are having the acne like bumps.... Finacea works great for that. Try it out. I love that stuff as well. In fact, the only things I use are plexion and finacea.

MiamiFox,
Just a gentle right hook. If it works for you and you dont experience increased redness, flushing or burning sensations than you have a wonderful product. I am just warning the 40% to 50% that cant use it and are told to fight through everything.
Listen to your face. Also know there is a yield sign up there for this one product. I think that is a logical approach and advice.

Hi April,
I have tried sulphur products in the past (rosanil, plexion, rosula) and they made my face dry, burning and itchy. Plexion is definitely gentler than Rosanil though.
At the time, it turned out that my combination skin was changing to dry skin so anything taking out moisture was a bad idea and made matters worse.
Anyway, the point is that sulphur can be very drying and if you noticed your skin has gotten worse with the use of it then don't fight through any irritation. It is time to try something else!!

I use a generic version of Plexion on my forehead and temples, and between my eyebrows, where I sometimes get a pimple or two. They are almost always nodules, not whiteheads. Anyway, I found that it does dry my skin quite a bit, so I wait after five minutes or so and put a dab of moisturizer (neutragena for sensitive skin) and that helps. Also, I only seem to need just a little tiny bit of the plexion. Seriously, a little tiny dab that I spread on my forehead is all I need. But I also don't have acne *that* bad. Might want to try using less and see what happens.
Also, aren't some people allergic to this compound? I'm not sure, just something to kee in mind.
I also like to use 2.5% benzoyle peroxide. Careful, this stuff is pretty strong, and only meant for tough skin, like your back, behind your shoulders, and chest. It sometimes burns my neck even, so I wouldn't dare put in on my face. I got it from acne.org, but it isn't cheap. Maybe try the 10% which you cna buy at the stores. Trick is to lather quite a bit on, wait 5 minutes, and then put on a non-comedogenic moisturizer, not likghtly on that either. The combo seems to work for the acne that I have on my upper back. It takes about 8 weeks to judge whether or not it works, same with everything, so hang in there. But it's great for me, my skin feels so smoooooooooth where I apply it.
Good luck.

Find a good doctor It took me a year but I found one and he rosacea and has it under control he put me on accutane 10 mg a day and gave me aquanil hc loton to put on my face once a day and after 3 weeks I see some improvment. good luck, bill
