Good results after 1st IPL, permanent or just temporary?

I had a full face IPL last week for redness / flushing and it's been a week so far.

I'm still ultra sensitive to blushing / flushing, as i've read most people are for a few weeks after.

I've noticed my skin is paler and my flushing and blushing is a lighter shade of red. It's not perfect by any means but i've seen a definite improvement. :D

My skin is smoother and marks from old spots seem alot less visible too.

Just try to keep your your flushing episodes down as much as possible post-IPL.

My skin looked really nice after the first IPL but it didn't really last. Most need 3+ treatments to see good results that last.

My vote goes for "it's too soon to tell". IPL usually stops my flushing dead in its tracks for the first week after IPL. Then the second week it starts up. I am not sure if others react this way also, but in my experience, the 1st week is always the best for me.

I have the same experience. I am pretty red and look awful for 1-2 days after IPL. Then, I am much improved--less redness, less flushing, etc. After my first IPL that lasted less than a week and I went back to the same old pattern of rapidly worsening (I've been that way since the beginning). After second IPL, 1-2 bad days, then my improvement lasted almost two weeks before I started regressing. I had my third IPL three days ago and wow! much improvement!

I talked to the laser nurse (I do Lumines One IPL treatments) and she said that is an absolutely normal pattern. She said after the last of the series (the 5th IPL), I will continue to see improvements for up to three months. So, the effect of the IPLs are cumulative; each one builds on the previous. I might hold the improvements of this third IPL all the way up until my next one. Or, I might not.

So, hang in there. What you are experiencing is normal. I find it difficult to wait for my next IPL as I watch my skin go bad again but that is just the process. It seems long...

I've read that many people follow this pattern and after about the 3rd treatment things start to become a bit more permanent.

I've got 4 more planned anyways three weeks apart so hopefully i'll see some good results soon.

It's amazing how good your skin looks after the dry flakes of skin and freckles come off though. 8)
