Hi,

Does anyone else find it difficult to see the results of IPL. I had 2 IPL, the second induced by niacin and said on my third that I saw little results. On the 3rd trip, niacin was once again put on my face, however th eburning and redness induced was bad but a fraction of redness and pain from the first niacin treatment. My derm implie that this was evidence of a positive response to IPL. However im not sure I can actually see one. What blurs it, is that rosaceans remember a clear non rosacea face and a the face how it is currently. Whilst the redness is on the face, no matter if you have had a 20% reduction, you still view your face as 'red and not clear'. As a result how can we really tell of IPL success

Hi
I know what you mean. I bought a digital camera and I take photos of myself so I have something to compare it with. I also keep a record of the dates of my IPLs and I take photos the day after so I can compare my post IPL reactions in terms of severity. I also take photos of myself not flushed so I can try to judge any reduction in background redness. I have also found photos to be very helpful in terms of convincing drs. of the severity of your condition, since they only see you for a snapshot in time and may not see you at your worst.

I find it maddingly difficult to tell how effective various things are that I do, including IPL, even with taking photos and asking other people's opinion I really don't have a confident, clear sense of how much progress I'm making.
