Hi, Dr Nase and all
Hoping you are feeling better I almost feel guilty asking you this because I know you need rest.
I saw Dr Soldo today and he is a nice guy and takes the time to talk and explain.
First I want to let you know that my case of rosacea is much different than most. I had acne when younger but just very stubborn and not the scaring type. I took high dose accutane two times. After the last course of accutane I had peaches and cream complextion for 5 years. I did flush from time to time but not bad and for very short durations. 1 1/2 years ago I was diagnosed with Rosacea. But I did not progress the way most do. At first I developed large bumps with white fluid in them and also noticed milia on my nose. When I would relieve the bumps my nose became very red and the lesions where the pustulates were would not heal fast and bleed alot. As things progressed my pores on my nose gradually looked like orange peels and my eyelids swelled. I believe I have dermatitis also as my area between my eye lids and eye eye lashes was red and continually flaked. So this hit me all of a sudden. Very little flushing just pow all at once. Is this typical. I almost have the eyelids and nose under control with doxycycline as the swelling and red flaking are almost gone and the large pores and swelling of my nose are almost gone. I know what makes me flush and have had no alcohol for 7 months.
Since I have no problems other than the nose and eyelids is it possible that I have sebaceous gland and memobian gland disfunction and not Rosacea. No where else is it red at all. Could it be that this is why N lite works on people with papules and pustulates because it does something to the sebaceous glands and memobian glands whereas the IPLs which have a great difference in wavelenghth do not? If someone has both rosacea and sebaceous gland disfunction maybe this explains why both IPL and N Lite (or its equivalent) are necessary. Do you think I should just try the N lite first and see what happens rather than pay for both? Is smooth beam close to the same as N lite machine? The Smooth beam has a wave lenghth of 1450 nm and the N Lite has a wavelenghth of 510 nm.
Dr Soldo seems intent that the N Lite only kills the bacteria and that the IPL will do just as good. Hate to put you in this position for advice but I would appreciate your input.
Thanks
Keith Hahn

Hello,

I am sorry, but I dont want to bring the same craziness over from the R-S board. Asking a physician who knows nothing about a machine, has never used the machine, has never read the studies on a machine and only uses one machine will never get you an informed answer.

I think that is a civil answer.

Hello Keith Hahn.
Do you know who Mike Lester is? He made a number of posts at the RS group.
The funny thing is, not only are the two of you from the same State (AZ), but your symptoms are identical. Perhaps it might be worth while to spend some time going through the RS archive or contacting Mike personally if you haven't already done so. If I remember correctly the first part of his email was jmaguire... .
Good luck. I hope all goes well with Dr. Soldo and contacting Mike (if you choose to do so),
Jonathan.
