dr. nase,
for those of us who are having ipl treatments done 2-3 wks apart, how should we take antibiotics such as clarithromycin or azithromycin? for ex, should we take it non-stop throughout all of the entire ipl treatments? is it important, for any reason, to stop taking them a few days (or a week) prior to the actual treatment? is it ok to start taking them immediately after each treatment (or should we wait 5 days, 1 week, etc...)? i just don't want to somehow diminish the effects of the ipl by taking it at inappropriate times, especially since my ipl treatments will be spaced close together (possibly 2 weeks apart). that's why i'm looking for specifics. also, i heard you mention that we should stop taking supplements such as grape seed extract and pycnogenol one week prior to each ipl treatment. do we then resume taking them the day after the treatment or do we need to wait for a specified length of time?
what would you say is the normal dose of these antibiotics?
finally, if the physician who is performing the ipl treatments does not agree to prescribe an antibiotic for this situation and we decide to visit another physician to get the antibiotic, what literature can you direct me to (such as a website link) that i can print out and present to this other physician in an attempt to obtain the macrolide antibiotic (either written by you or someone else)? i know you mention clarithromycin and azithromycin in your book, but you don't mention their use for specifically preventing angiogenesis after ipl treatments. that's why i am looking for outside sources addressing this.
thank you so much for your help and we wish you all the best. God bless.
