HELP! My derm PA Rxed for me to use Lokara Lotion "on
scaley areas" for 2 weeks because the my face is
peeling and irritated so much from seb. derm. She
said don't use the other stuff for this 2 weeks to
calm down the seb. derm. (Usual treatment is Noritate
at night, Elidel 2x per day, plus I had started using
Rosac in the day and I felt that that was drying my
skin so after a couple days of the Rosac, I only
applied the Rosac on the very sides of face by
hairline where it is all bumpy under the skin there
(used to be all broken out there before Noritate.)
SOOO has anyone done used a low dose steroid cream
like this on face for 2 weeks only and not had
exasperation of rosacea. She said call her after 2
weeks if it does not improve. If it gets better, then
go back to usual treatment. She thinks all the
rosacea meds aggravated the seb. derm. BUT then why
does she want me to go strait back to the same
treatment. I guess if there is a round 2 of this,
then I know it is the meds aggravating it. I am kinda
scared I will get all broken out again without the
Noritate. I have this Rx sitting in my wallet for 4
days because I am afraid to use the steroid cream, but
my face is so irritated and peeling, what else am I
going to do? There is no way I will use the steroid
stuff more than a week. I know the warnings for long
term use. I see some things that say AVOID all
steroids. Dr. Nases book does not say anything about
.05% cream for short periods. I think it only said 1%,
though I know he does not even like the idea of nasal
sprays (If I do not use those, I litterally can not
breath and get sinus infections.) Anyway, any advice
would be appreciated. I don't want to mess up my face
more than it already is. Thanks. -Laurie

Well, I just posted this on the "Other Conditions" section, but I will put it here, too in case you missed it. I had the seb derm sore bumps all along the hairline, too, and "cured" it for about a three-month period with one dose of Diflucan, the oral "vaginal yeast" drug. It gradually came back, but I get repeated remissions from taking the drug every few months. I don't know if the OTC vaginal yeast drugs would work. Must be some element of fungus involved in seb derm for it to have worked so well for me.

You will find that the average dermatologist hands out cortisone cream prescriptions many times a day for every type of skin condition. It doesn't cure anybody, just hides symptoms for a short while. I think it is just a way for them to get people out of the office quickly. They get to collect a big fee while pretending they have solved your problem, but you could have gone out and bought a tube of OTC cortisone cream at the drugstore cheap. I found that the prescription cortisone creams were intolerably burning. I can only use Cotizone 10 ointment (OTC). However, ever since reading Dr. Nase's book, I have quit using cortisone anywhere.

I don't know about the danger, if any, of using cortisone nasal spray every day. I have a niece who uses a lot of Sudafed because of allergies that stop up her nose, but now the government has required that she show a picture ID and register as a Sudafed user! The stuff is now locked up by the pharmacies in her state and purchase is limited. So she was looking for alternatives, and I told her about Xlear, a nasal spray that contains xylitol, a natural sugar. It is supposed to prevent the allergens from sticking to the nasal passages. She ordered it online, but hasn't gotten it yet, so I don't know how it is going to work for her yet.

Well, my niece reported back that the Xlear nasal spray didn't work at all. She said her mother had used it, too, without success.
