i've tried topical metronidazol, which caused increased redness after 5/6 days. so i've stopped it. since i badly react to many topicals i thought this was due to some of the additives.

early this week i started a course of oral metronidazol. after fourth dose (250mg each) i got some real bad reaction. after stopping it took just one day to settle down - strange thing: although i would have expected it to last longer (as usual) it really looks like it did help a bit.

but i guess starting over again would be too risky (causing secondary allergies - don't know)?

has anybody eperienced similar reactions to topical/oral metro?

I couldn't use the topical metronidazole because it made me get little pimples all over my face within three days. Then I read Dr. Nase's post about the two-week course of oral metronidazole "curing" a few people and decided to try it. I started having bad diarrhea after a week and was still flushing every day. Since I didn't see any change for the better, I stopped it. Just had to chalk it up to one more failed treatment.

i got exactly the same reaction on topical metro. have you ever tried elidel? it's really a bad thing i can't use this either. (but there's at least a chance it's caused by harsh ingredients)

I haven't used Elidel, but am considering it for my eyelids. I have had good results with 25 mg. twice a day doxycycline for the p & p on my face, but I still have trouble with my eyelids itching, swelling, and scaling. I don't know enough about Elidel yet.
