Hello everybody, I browsed Candela's website about the new Ellipse I2PL laser and especially noticed how much less red the woman (second photo-comparison) had become. I though "interesting!" until I noticed the after-photo is the same as the before-photo plus a few photoshop filters added. Lame, hu? Nothing interesting really, just a little unprofessional of them I think.

Keep on fighting.

indeed, just added some simple filters...

don't understand why, candela has some good machines, the really don't need to fake images...

I don't know who candela is, but that doesn't matter. It was weird that they merely lightened up a regular photo of that woman (they didn't even bother to make sure her eyes were the same blue in both photos).

That said: I had my photo taken before treatment and the resulting image looked nothing like "me" (even according to the person taking the photo). So, it's very hard to go by photos unless the person in them has a really distinctive mark, scar or color variation.

Did you know that different films and cameras (and digital camera cards) are color callibrated in different ways? Here's a quick example, back in the days of film, I found out that Fuji was made to bring out the pink in skintones and the blue in the sky.

Candela is a laser manufacturer.

I totally agree about the obvious fading in the second photo. i thought it would be interesting to try and de-photoshop the second photo using Photoshop lol. But interestingly i think the first photo may have been reddened more as well as the second photo being faded out. Anyhow this is what i came up with;

This was their photo;

Yes, I think the original photo would have been somewhere between the two. The 'after' photo definitely looks like it has had the red colour channel altered, but the 'before' photo doesn't look very natural at all. Look at the hair and eyes.

And look at the necks. The neck shouldn't be red, not in reality.

Well that was the interesting thing as when i increased the red the other colours obviously altered as well, so i think its much more likely the original photo was made redder. I can back this up by this image where all i did was lessen the brightness and contrast on the first image and the whole thing looks much more realistic;

I e-mailed them and asked if they could provide an answer as to why they are using doctored photos. I'll update the group IF the reply.

Ghost,

Excellent observation:

Look at the neck first and then the ears. Also look at hair color.

have a look again, they've already changed it.

so the after pic has been there. this raises the question if the just mixed up the two pics and apply filters for after-pics regulary.

wouldn't be that nice...

OMG its an entirely new picture at a slightly different angle! I wonder if she works there or something and theyve dragged her in again to take a new photo :D

If they had that photo all along it makes you wonder why on earth they bothered with the other one as this new one looks far better!

There is still a change in the color/shading of the white chin holder.

The newest one looks like it's had an adjustment called variations run on it. It basically takes out the different red, blue, green, or yellow shades that you want - all within the Shadows, highlights, or midtones. Look at
this one I did of myself. I used a "clone" tool that allows me to cover up my blemishes, but I also used variations to get rid of my red (bit too much on the green side, now, but you get the point.)

Basically, I'm just saying it's really easy for them to do, and it really p!sses me off to see it done.

That is a huge difference isn't it? God it must be too enticing for any of these laser establishments/companies to just make some adjustments to the photos and make an unremarkable result, remarkable!

Who can you believe :x

If it can be proven, then it's fraud, and they go under. Just wish more people would call them on it.

The must think we are stupid! The second picture is exactly the same except for color- every strand of hair in the after picture is in the same position as the before picture. THat makes me suspicious - I find them untrustworthy based simply on the photos they submitted. :evil:

Is Candela's Ellipse I2PL laser even an option for Rosaceans? I agree that it is fraud.. can anything be done or shall we just ignore it and move on.... :?
