Just wondering if low dose Accutane did imply remission for some, probably they won't be here anymore, although complete remission probably isn't that common
Probably it would have been better if I had taken clarithromycin before I started on low dose accutane

there have been reports where people got remission after accutane. i was always wondering if they are also the few where demodex is a major trigger.

yeah, good point. the "problem" with accutane is that it does a whole slew of things like wiping out demodex, yeast, and all the other bacteria and crap that feed off of sebum production. the result is that when you see results from taking it, it is not clear if this is because of its neurovascular effects or sebum inhibiting effects or one of its many other effects. but hey, on the other end, if it does work, who gives a shit! you got your life back

Histological studies indicate that the number one thing that accutane does to rosacea is undue the years of dermal inflammation and actually constrict blood vessels and remove some telangiectasia (it downregulates cell adhesion molecules, VEGF and neutrophil recruitment) everything else is secondary. For those also with sebaceous gland probelms then it helps those too. It does help with demodex because it shrinks the environment, but when off accutane many retain most of their clearance although the sebaceous glands go back to normal and demodex are there again.

It is really about giving your dermal skin a true break from chronic low grade rosacea inflammation.

Hi,

I took roaccutane some time ago. First two months 20mg a day, then 5 months - 10mg a day. It put me into a remission for two years. Full remission. Nothing.

Funny thing is it was a treatment for seb derm. Back then I didn't know I have rosacea, so while in my remission I did sauna, sun...everything....and I guess I was too much in the sun light that brought me back to my rosacea a year ago.

Regards,
