Hi everyone,

So I just did my first v-beam treatment today and I was wondering if anyone could answer some of the questions I have. I also plan on posting my recovery pictures on here for anyone who is interested in the treatment to see my progression.

I had it done at around 1:30 today and it is now 8:00. for a couple of hours after the procedure, I had welts around the purpura bruising, but not really much swelling. The welts have pretty much gone away, but my face looks pretty bad with these purple spots from hell.

From anyone who has had experience with this, how long will the purpura last? What is the normal progression of fading?

Day before treatment:

Hi and welcome to the RFhi:

I never had purpuric VBeam myself but I believe it can take from a couple of weeks to a month or 2 as people experience different recovery times.
Here are some threads that may be helpful:

I have never seen this. I had Vbeam done this summer on my forehead and a bit on my nose; and while I has some swelling and a few marks from it, I didn't have any spots. Is there a difference between Vbeam and Vbeam purpura? It looks like it's getting better though; that the spots are healing and fading. Can you post more photos of the progress?

I have papules and pustules on my forehead and behind ears, and the Vbeam did nothing for my forehead. I have heard that laser doesn't have the wavelength to hit stuff deep.

Thanks,

Stphn

Yea the purpura is just the bruising that occurs when the guy who did it upped the intensity of the beam. It has been fading gradually, but they said it would take 7-10 days to completely fade, 14 at the most.

Day 4 (not much difference :( ):

Thanks a lot for sharing your experience with us. Look, I知 33 years old, I知 from Chile. My main problem is redness and some telangiectasias on and around my nose and in the cheeks,.. its not that bad at all, but its truly uncomfortable. I went to the doctor today and she was so nice she warned me about those purple spots you get after v-beam treatment. I honestly never knew anything about them in spite of looking up for tons of videos an info on the internet that never reveal anything but the incredible performance of the laser. Anyway that means nothing if you get good results with it,.. I知 willing to invest all my money if necessary to look and to feel better. Unfortunately the big issue is the recovering period... I just got a new job and I wouldn`t even have the chance to justify wearing those dramatic purple spots for more than a couple of days.
You are doing really well, everyone can tell de difference, I reckon within less than two weeks you値l look heaps better than before begining the lase adventure. Please keep showing your pictures. Whenever I go through the precess I値l share my life.
Good luck to the whole red, itchy, swelling, burning skin and good willing people, looking after become better human beings 

Yeah, they are fading nicely! Looks like once they are gone, so will a lot of frustrating redness.

Chile-man: I'm in the same boat as far as not being able to take a week or two off of work to heal. I had Vbeam performed this summer, only on my forehead. I took a friday off, had it done in the a.m., and was okay to return to work on monday. however, i did not get those spots for some reason.

I have just learned about a great laser called Sciton BBL. Reportedly, the down-time from this laser is significantly less. If i can manage to find one near Atlanta, GA, I hope to just take a thursday and friday off, and be back to work on Monday.

Check out Sciton BBL. It looks very promising.

Thanks crue for the updates. Do you know what the laser was set to, as far as nm?

Yea I know what you mean about not wanting to have the purple spots for work and stuff. I'm in school right now and it sucked walking around campus the first couple of days. I felt like I was some kind of leapar, with everyone seeming to stop and stare at the side of my face. You get over that feeling fast though, just try to avoid mirrors.

The guy who did my vbeam kind of lied to me about the down time in my consultation. He told me that in two days I'll be set, and failed to mention anything about the purpura. As far as the intensity level it was set to, I have no idea sorry.

DAY 6 (seems like the left side is healing much faster than the right):

It is often the way. They seem to be fading nicely. Give it a few more days and they will be hardly be noticeable. It isnt on that the the pupura wasnt mentioned at all during the consultationshock:

Yo!

Was the V-Beam for general redness or something else? Do keep on posting pictures - it seems to be healing fast.

Also, was it Candela V-Beam or another brand of PDL?

Thanks!

Yea I don't think it will be completely gone in 14 days, but i'm hoping it will be better than the pre-treatment. It was a Candela V-beam machine

Hi everybody,...
I already looked up for candela and seems good. Unfortunately we still don't have that device in Chile,....
Crue, you are doing GREAT!!! It's such a generous act posting pictures on your auspicious healing. Thanks for that.
In respect to having to deal with those purple spots, and in a way playing some sort of strange clown for, in worse of cases a month or even a bit more,.... who amongst all of us (Redskins and other relatives in the family ) could care less about it? If the process involves even just a pratial solution,... SO VERY WELCOME!!! Lets just don't give at all. Sooner or later I'll have my time to panic and get as white as Casper and I'll share my experience.
Best regards people, I'll be in touch!!!!

Hey Crue!

Any more updates? I'm assuming since you stopped posting that the purpura continued healing without any significant hitches.

How were the final results?
