I eat alot of olive oil, I pour a little into my oatmeal every morning (you cant taste it) pour it over my dinner and cooked veggies, use it now as my dressing on salad... so my question is can olive oil be bad for our skin?? I know this is ridiculous, as it's supposed to be very GOOD for skin and overall body hence the reason I'm so diligent to eat it daily, but considering it's a salicylate, and a high one at that could it have negative effects??
Also, as far as grapes go, I've noticed that a few of you follow a mostly mediterranean diet, which includes grapes, so therefor does that mean you eat grapes?? I ask because I love grapes, red specifically, and I used to eat them daily, but I cut them out quite some months ago out of fear that they were "bad" for my skin and I'm wanting to start eating them again! Any advice??

Hi Bluesky,
I wish there were universal rules as to what to eat and what not to eat but unfortunately it does come down to individual reactions. I do follow a mainly Mediterranean diet (minus the wine) and do eat grapes and add olive oil to my diet as well. It is a generally accepted healthy way to eat. However, as those of us with rosacea know, this fact doesn't guarantee anything so you may want to add things one at a time to make sure you do not have any adverse reaction.
Good luck!

Thanks for the reply Melissa, I think you're right, no sense in really depriving myself of things if I don't know for a fact they even do anything to me and just go about making assumptions, plus grapes have alot of antioxidants as most of us know, and beyond that they are are just so good!! They have a crunch, yet are juicy, and cool you off. So, I think I'll buy a bag this week at the store and slowly see how it goes, if anything at all.
For me I just seem to react mostly to HOT foods, either spicy or hot literally. Things like cantaloupe right out of the fridge is great for me because it cools me off! Sometimes also I love to eat leftovers right out of the fridge w/ no microwaving, I just prefer it cold and feels so much better to me, good food minus the heat stroke. ;)
As far as olive oil goes I already eat quite alot and don't seem to react to that as far as I know, well, anymore than I would anything else because I mostly eat it with warm food which warms me up also inevitably.
Thanks for the advice, p.s the mediteranean diet is great, I mainly aim for an anti-inflammatory diet myself for obvious reasons but in the process it's mediteranean basically, lots of veggies, nuts, some fruit, good grains, and poultry or fish only for meat. Minimal to no red meat or sweets. Also, no dairy for breakout purposes. I think it's helpful both skin and body wise, and it's actually good to me- so not total torture by anymeans! Sometimes I'm dying for a brownie or ice-cream but i just shake it off and eat some fruit blush:!
