Lupus and rosacea are often confused for each other so im wondering if this helps us in any way? It's worth a shot! I am also wondering because Lamarr and halfpipe had success with mepacrine, which is one of the staple treatments of lupus (the subtype with the butterfly rash). So if it's working perhaps this could explain why?

I believe that, in their sort of 'multifactorial' approach to rosacea, Gallo et al speak about Toll-like receptor 2 being wrongly expressed in rosacea patients. TLRs seem to be there at the start of the inflammatory process, recognizing the pathogens which are then, later in the chain, battled against by the immune system (where cathelicidins come in, later on in this process).

So its the same general territory, just different TLR's - and in our case it may not be the TLR's as such that are primarily at fault, even though they are involved.

Good find. Things seem to be coming along nicely in the mapping of the pathology of these diseases.
