I was looking to a healthier less processed alternative and turned to olive oil but now that we're going into the summer, that can't be good if it attracts more of the sun. Do you have any suggestions? What kind of eye makeup remover do you use and how well does it work for you?

I use jojoba oil from my healthfood shop. I assume you'll be wanting to remove your makeup at night? In that case I don't think there is too much to be worried about regarding sun exposure the next day. If you wipe all the oil away carefully and then rinse your face I can't see that there would be a problem.
We should protect our eyes from the strong sun anyway so maybe invest in some nice sunglasses? smile:

I use Ocusoft lid scrubs as my eye makeup remover. It is one of the few products that does not cause swelling around my eyes.
I second the suggestion to always wear sunglasses while outside to protect your eyes.
Best wishes,

I have ocular rosacea, dry eye and mgd--meibomian (sp?) gland dysfunction. I need to keep very good lid hygiene due to thte above.
So for me ocusoft was too harsh and I did some research here and at dryeyezone and found that some found Novartis Lid Scrub..eyemakeup remover and lid cleanser to be a more gentle product. And, I totally agree at least for me.
Due to my conditions and based on what I have read I would never use an oil that may block the glands along your lash line...that is what the cleansing method for ocular rosacea and mgd is all about getting those glands cleared and functioning again. And, doing nothing to block them. Dr. Latkany an expert in this doesn't even recommend night eye ointments containing petrolatum because of the possible clogging of the glands.
If ocusoft agrees with you, I have read that some like the ocusoft foam and use it in the shower..that they like the moist , heat environment and then can massage the foam at lash line and on their lid....as always be very gentle no tugging or pulling or using a rough cloth of any type .
