Hi Guys and Gals!

I would like to hear your two cents on protein supplements and rosacea? Should I choose soy over whey or vice versa? Whey coming from dairy after all... Have you found any benefits with one or the other in your personal experience?

Time to get that body fat below 10% for the summer again!

Cheers,
Malcom

This is my personal....speculation and has no grounding in science (or at least very little) and may be completely unrelated to rosacea...so naturally I'd like to share. grin:

oh and I should also mention it probably only applies to females.

Soy has long been a natural remedy for hot flashes/night sweats/flushing in pre-menopausal women because of some type of hormone synthesis/reaction/whatever mechanism it undergoes in the body, so when I use protein supplements I always go for soy. Also, according to both my psych and A&P textbooks, Japanese people are basically the pinnacle of all things noble and desirable of the human race, and they eat tons of soy product, so I figure it can't hurt.

yeah i go for soy, because im on a diary gluten free diet.
although for bodybuilding whey is actually better because it is much faster.

the difference is by like 5-10% in terms of faster absorbtion

I have tried soy, rice and whey....none seem to make a difference to my rosacea and the whey I have tasted way better!

I use Jay Robb whey - they are the cleanest protein powders that I have seen, no funky ingredients, and only sweetened with stevia.

They don't contain gluten, msg, casein, or artificial colors or flavors. The ingredients are Cold-processed cross-flow microfiltered whey protein isolate, natural flavor, xanthan gum, lecithin, stevia

I would avoid unfermented soy- many studies are showing negative effects from it.

Thanks all, I got me some soy after researching a bit on the internet, I was mainly concerned about soy's potential effects on estrogen, but this theory has (for now at least) been revoked... and also I try not to use dairy. But thanks to you I'm going for whey next time, it's still better in many ways I think! :)
