After having problems with flushing on my face and neck for a couple of years my cheeks and nose now remain pink/red most of the time. I have little broken veins but no lumps and bumps.
My skin burns when I flush and it seems to take longer and longer to go away!!
I went to the doctors yesterday and was diagnosed with rosacea and given Rozex.
I have done a lot of internet research since then and have been bombarded with so many different lotions, potions and treatments I don't no where to start!!!! blink:
I don't drink or smoke, eat healthy, and now stay out of the sun as it makes my red cheeks worse!! blush:
I would really appreciate some advice from others who have the same symptoms as me.
What has worked for you??
Is Rozex any good??
Any help and advice would be wonderful!!!

Hey Keira,
I have not tried Rozex before but if your derm thinks it could help I would give it a go for however long he/she recommends. If it doesn't help, there are other things you could try as well in the form of topicals, meds and lasers.
I know how you feel when you say your face burns when it flushes but there is hope. You just have to find what treatments work best for you. Try to hang in there and good luck.

Hi Keira,
Welcome to the RF hi:
This link is a helpful place to start
http://rosacea-research.org/wiki/index.php/Main_Page
Rozex is mainly for the bumps of rosacea I believe. There aren't any topicals that I know of that are on the market that work for flushing. Laser or IPL may be something to consider. But I would take my time and read through all the threads that interest you as there is a lot of info here. The best thing to do is try one new thing at a time. What is your skin care routine? Do you flush to specific triggers?
Best wishes,
Melissa

Thanks for your replys hi:
My current skin care routine is fairly simple. I use Demalogica Special Cleansing Gel and Boot No 7 mosturisers. I think I need to change this to something milder/specifically for rosacea. I have been given a trial of Clinique Redness Relief cream as I already use their foundation. There are so many manufacturers that make specific ranges, Clinique, Avene, Demalogica etc, I don't know where to start or which are good ones!!
I do flush to certain triggers I think. It began with alcohol but I no longer drink! Flushing is now caused by heat, stress, sun exposure but sometimes it just appears from nowhere and can last for ages. My cheeks never return to normal and range from pink (a good day) to an angry red (bad day!!). My nose is starting to look like my cheeks and is red quite a lot of the time as well blush:
I am a bit wary of using the Rosex gel as I have read that it can make sensitive skin worse and my skin seems very sensitive at the moment. I had thought it was mainly for the bumps so thanks Melissa for that info smile:
I am really glad I have found this site as it's great to know that I'm not the only one stressing about my red cheeks!!

I personally only use the Cetaphil gentle cleanser for the morning and Paula's Choice Skin Balancing Cleanser for taking off makeup. Just stick with something with no fragrance or irritants.
As for the Rozex, I think testing it for a few days on a small area of skin would be a good idea. If that doesn't bother it, increase the test patch gradually. You'll never know unless you try. smile:
Like Melissa said though, there isn't really any topical that is made or advertised specifically for just flushing and/or redness. I have had great results with V-beam in that regard because like you, I have no P&Ps. But for now, my advice again is to do as your derm says and if that doesn't work out there are always other options to try but if anything it might even prevent any P&Ps from popping up.

Keira,
You may want to have a look at the low level light section as red light may be helpful for your redness and flushing. Read the stickies when you get a chance and see what you think.
In the meantime find a gentle and simple skin care routine. I have dry and very sensitive skin. I use Eucerin redness relief cleansing gel to cleanse my face and CeraVe lotion and cream and Eucerin original moisturising lotion and cream to moisturise. I switch between these depending on how dry my skin is.
It comes down to trial and error to find what products will be best for you. As I mentioned before it is best to try one new thing at a time and for new products you may want to try it on a small area of your face first to make sure you are not irritated by it.
Best wishes,
Melissa

Thanks again Melissa and Miss D for your advice.
I really appreciate that you have taken the time to answer my questions smile:
I will try the Rosex in a small patch first and embark on a new gentle skin care routine.
I have read the info on low level light therapy and V-Beam and I'm going to look into it.
I have ME as well and am convinced that the onset on Rosacea and ME are connected as before my illness I was lucky enough to have very clear skin. I would be interested to hear from any other Rosacea suffers who have problems with ME/CFS.
Thanks again for your advice guys hi:
