I see that a lot of people here find yoga to be very beneficial to their rosacea, as it helps them to control stress levels. I too love yoga (I wish I had the time for it...maybe if I didn't spend the time here, lol).

I used to LOVE love love Bikram (or "hot") yoga. I haven't tried it since the rosacea.

My question is: does anyone do bikram successfully/not miserably or with awful sides?

Thanks guys.

hi, i've done bikram a couple of times, and had no additional side effects for the most part...the skin does flush a bit just from the shear heat, but it goes back to normal for me shortly thereafter. I like the detoxing effects of bikram with all the sweating and such...but i didn't like the repetition of the same poses over and over every class. i may go back from time to time still though. I think some of the best benefits from yoga for rosacea may actually be meditation. If one could do the asanas (physical postures) and then meditate, that could yield the best results. I was lucky enough to meet a living yoga master who actually was able to heal himself from tumors through meditation...so he says anyways. In his presence i've experienced some phenomenal things, so I believe him to be the real deal. just food for thought... :)

I just read a really interesting book called Eat.Love.Pray. It got me really intrigued about meditation. I am lucky to live near a buddhist temple so am going to book in to one of their meditation retreats. I think for me controlling my mind is a big key to the intensity of my flushes.

Funny I just posted this in another thread.

http://www.centerpointe.com/meditate/

Thought it was a bit hoohaa 'over the top' but that there was a message about relaxation, taking time for yourself etc. etc.

Don't know whether I would be disciplined enough to get into meditation and my body wouldn't do any sort of bending for yoga at the momentlaugh: but I have always fancied trying yoga and might put this on my 'positive' to do list for the future.

I'm a bit like a cat on a hot tin roof at the moment with anxiety, dwelling on things a bit too much etc. and I went out and bought a load of books because I got out of the way of reading a long time ago. It has helped divert my mind.

hi valby, wow that's wonderful you have a buddhist temple close to you....i also believe controling the mind is key...the body will reflect what the mind thinks..its all connected. also, meditation allows you to be "plugged into quality power" what I mean by this, is that the body is the hardware, and the mind is the software...the energy that makes those two things work is your life energy. so when we meditate, our life energy is elevated, and our mind and body will operate better. Meditation techniques that incorporate breath have worked best for me. sound meditation has also provided elevating experiences for me. I went to a gong concert once...yes, i said gong concert...lol. it lasted hours, but my experience was that it lasted only minutes. there's something about the frequencies that provide altered states of consciousness. when you begin to access dimensions beyond the physical, time and space seem to melt away. I've only been involved in meditation a couple years and I'm not doing it every day..more like a couple times a week, there's so much i don't understand about it and much i have yet to learn, but I can tell you without eqivocation, that there is much beyond our current senses of perception, and while i've only received glimpses of this, its beautiful.

hi allibear, there is definitely something to sound waves...i think that product would have benefits, but the drawback is that it is a one dimensional tool. body, mind, emotion and life energy all need to be addressed. For us to drive a car in the direction we want to go, all the wheels must spin in the same direction so to speak. The problem with quick fix spiritual products is that it tends to give spirituality a bad name. To really explore spirituality, there needs to be a committed atmosphere and time devoted to the process.

anxiety used to be my middle name lol and i'm still not fully liberated from it that's for sure...we tend to suffer the past and fear the future and neither one exists, so we suffer the nonexistential. suffering the nonexistential is the definition of insanity...so all of us are walking around in socially accepted levels of insanity :)

anxiety and stress does so much damage to our bodies..i should know, i think to a certain extent my rosacea has been impacted by this in additon to my poor diet. If you ever decided to get into yoga and meditation, it could be an extraordiary experience for you and a technology to live life the way you want it, instead of having the external world dictate how you want to be. the physical postures will do wonders to help allieviate the anxiety. if we don't use our physical energies, they will expressed through other means and usually at the most inappropriate times. utilizing the physical energy, will be very calming to your nervous system.

hope all is well allibear and i hope the anxiety has been replaced with love, joy, bliss and health :)
