Thanks guys =)

Not sure, many people find sweating and regular exercise help seb derm. Possible that you are over doing it? Do you get really red during exercise? If so you may be adding excess inflammation to the skin which is responding poorly to it. I have had to significantly tone down my exercise in order to keep my Rosacea controlled.

Well.. Yes I do tend to get red. But normally not that much.. It is the sweat that is kind of irritating. But it could of cause be something with inflammation.. I dont know..
If I don't sweat at all a whole week my skin is normally great. Just an hour of exerice my seb derm really devolpes flares...
Dont get all this shit =P

Sweating seems to help my scalp seb. derm. I never itch after intense sweating. Until I take a shower, that is.

I have this same reaction....just in another area of my body....for yrs the derm told me it was chronic prickly heat.....so tonight just googling around as it's been driving me crazy since Christmas time I found others like me and they say it's yeast in this area....so I tried a cream that was recently prescribed for my dog....animax cream (nystatin-neomycin sulfate-thiostrepton-triamcinolone acetonide cream usp) I washed the area with vinergar and rinsed....used a hair dryer on low cool temp and dried the area totally....towel drying won't work. Then put on this cream.....it's like a miracle....the itching stopped and I feel soooo much better and it's only been applied once!
My x-derm is sooooo dumb...he would only put me on topical steroids, gave me injections of them (all over my trunk area with an air gun that hurts!) and I still itched like crazy.....I have been dealing with this for 14yrs! Stupid derm....now you say hey why are you telling me all this....well, I know we can't put this cream on our faces as it has a steroid in it BUT why can't someone who has this problem on the face have a compounding pharmacy make this cream w/o the steroid in it and try it on the face for seb derm?
I am just grasping at straws here...but I can't imagine having this reaction on my face as it's been horrible all over my trunk area.....I tried so many different stupid things...mostly steroid creams which did nothing to help.....powders and so on....all do nothing to help....maybe this would work for seb derm I don't know but it sure took out the itch for me! Says humans not to use.....desperate times call for desperate measures!

A major cause of Seb Derm is overactive sebaceous glands, too much oil being pushed through your pores, so it is suggested you wash your face immediately after your exercise is done. The build up of moisture from sweat staying on the skin too long will most likely aggravate your condition and could end up causing inflammatory responses (itching, inflammation, redness, flaking). But be very careful what you wash with and the intensity. If you have sensitive skin like me, and or have Rosacea as well (Many Seb Dermers have Rosacea as well), then you can make the condition much worse using harsh products. Sweating is great, it helps clean out toxins (beyond the many other beneificial overal effects). I would recommend the following regime, it's my regime at this time, been doing this for the past 5 weeks, and have seen nice results:
1. Very mild cleanser with no fragrances and or chemicals. You can use a salicylic based cleanser (3%) once or twice per week to clean off the left on dead skin cells.
2. Always wash immediately after exercise is finished.
3. Avoid extremes like hot or cold water.
4. Rub very gently when washing.
5. Wash once daily, maybe twice, but be careful, don't wash too much.
6. Most imporantly, supplement with B5. www.acne-vitamins.com
I have had terrible facial Seb Derm and Rosacea (P&P) for more than 20 years and I have contact/atopic dermatitus and terrible allergies to so many things (dust, chemicals, fragrances) that make my condition much harder to deal with. I have many triggers. I have taken "Clear 5" (www.acne-vitamins.com) liquid 2 times daily (2 tablespoons) now for about 5 weeks and I have seen drastic improvements. Now, I'm not completely void of seb derm or an occasional acne flair, it hasn't been a miracle cure for me, but now when I do get a small pimple or 2, they dissappear in 1 day and heal fast and completely. I also do not have nearly as much of the dead skin, gunky buildup.
I'm 42 and I have now a problem with wound healing, so this is huge for me. My pores usually are filled with oil, wax, and dead skin, and this would cause intense itching, some acne breakous that are very painful, redness, inflammation, and general overall lack of skin breathability. I'm grateful for any improvement. I'd say, I have seen about an 70-80% improvement.
I saw great improvement the first 2 weeks. I feel I did plateau or hit the tolerance wall we all know so much about the next couple weeks. However, this past week, I'm now seeing steady continued improvement. I have always had a problem with building a tolerance after something works for a week or 2, but my body has seemed to get through the tolerance stage and is maintaining my gains.
It's something I hope to continue to take for the rest of my life. There are no negative long term side effects (only a bit of diarrhea and stomach discomfort for the first few days). This is because B-5 (or Pantothenic Acid) is water soluble and even at high doses, it doesn't stay in our bodies longer than needed, unlike something similar to Vitamin A which is not water soluble and is very toxic.
I am happy with my current condition and if I can stay this way long term, I'd be content.
It's also affordable, only about $15 during the mega dosing stage (3 months) for about a month's supply, at least how much I'm taking (4 grams per day or 2 tablespoons per day of the liquid).
I'll try to check back every few weeks to update my progress.

What do you guys think about sauna? We finns are crazy about sauna, but I haven't taken one for ages since I felt it didn't do my skin any favours. But now when I think about it, it really did push the toxins out of the skin... maybe I should start going to sauna more often again.

I have the same problem. I like to lift weights alot and also begrudgingly often do cardio on the treadmill and it's always a big worry that I have to get into the shower right away as soon as I'm done working out. If I can feel the sweat drying on my face, rest assured I'm going to have major issues the next day. I always feel a sense of urgency that I have to get into the shower right away and there have been times where I'd get aggravated with my wife or daughter if they're in the bathroom and cause me a delay. Nice way to have to live, huh?
If the sweat dries on my face, everything tightens up and stings terribly and the next day I look horrid. But I'm at a loss what to do, I enjoy exercising and I'm not going to stop and turn into a fatass (which I will if I don't do anything, I'm not blessed with a fast metabolism)
*sigh*

The reason why you allways get seb derms flare after sweating is because the precursors of your sweat are already toxic. The reason why the precursors are toxic is simply that digestion of your food is not properly complete.
